798 Art Zone 798 Theatre — Attraction in Beijing

We went to Beijing Art area twice because we discovered that it does close and stores have different scheduled days off. We found that even on weekends many galleries close at 6 pm or just aren't open. Other than that there is Great art on some streets. It's nice that traffic is limited but you do have to watch out for cars. Some nice galleries but there seems to be just as many cafes, restaurants and retail stores if not more. It is a large area and there are reference maps available on some corners but not all are in English but there are no store names. Not many free benches to stop and take a rest but the area is fun to walk around and walk through the various art galleries that...

I came to this place on a cold winter night. It really seems like a place with a huge potential. It has a lot of character to it and it was a good choice doing an adaptive reuse for an old industry area. I would really like to come to this place again perhaps in the Autumn to check out more places. They are still doing renovation on a building up a couple of places. Definitely check this place out if you wanna see something different in china or if you have the artsy fartsy hipster blood...

Very hippy and uptrend art aura here in 798. Many interesting art pieces and architecture to explore. Expect to spend at least half a day here for the exploration, and don't forget your umbrella or rain jacket. Found it strange as no one was doing souvenirs or something resembles the artzone.
