A short walk takes you through a scenic little village with ancient styled buildings to a building where you need to purchase tickets to enter. Lots to walking streets and a river meandering through. Within this complex, there are IG buildings, bridges, souvenir shops, cafes, restaurants, a brewery, temples, a church, a wharf and various accommodation; even a home-stay option. There is also a largish one, the gubei water town hotel whichbis quite grand and comfortable. A walk towards the end of town reaches the cable car station to a section of the hand-made great wall - Simatai. Many rate this as one of the better sections in the Beijing vicinity.
