Oriental Bay International Hotel — Attraction in Beijing

Our stay here was a part of a tour package so I was quite surprised to arrive and find out how nice it really was. The entry into the lobby was spectacular and the staff was more than friendly and helpful. |The room was just as impressive with two "a little smaller than double" beds, a large desk, chair, and work area, along with a reading chair. The bathroom housed not only an oversized tub, but a separate enclosed marble shower. In room coffee, terry cloth robes and slippers made everything complete. |The only reason I did not give this a full 5 is that the property is a little short in the food service area. One main floor area serves as a buffet breakfast area in the morning, and Chinese restaurant at night. There are a selection of good restaurants within walking distance; bit BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL CROSSING BEIJING STREETS!!!|The only other shortcoming I would mention is that it is quite hard to find any of the staff even moderately conversant in English. First of all we realy unpleasant for check in we arrived at hotel in 11 oclock and they said to our tourleader that they can check us in until 2pm . We said Thats ok its the world check in rules ..after a long flight that we had about 8 hours and 4:30 hours check passport in airport we had to go to summer palace . After that we realy dirty and tired and we needed some rest we came back to hotel in 2:30 pm but they checked us in at 4 oclock . The secend day when we come back to hotel we saw that our room wasnt clean and all of the towel and everitong was the same as we left the room . I called room servic and they sent us a housekeeping to clean the room but she realy act rude to us and angry from us when i sai to her "empty the recyclebin "she look me very angry like i said her to do something strange.but the location of hotel was good the breakfast was averege and acceptable the pool was clean and the hotel was 5 min to market . But i never come back...

Imagine a beautiful lobby with enough space to land a 747 & only 2 couches and 2 chairs. Imagine a tiny bar that charges you $35 for the privilege of sitting and buying a beer. Imagine an international hotel that doesn't exchange money but sends you to a nearby bank.. Tough luck even the bank is closed. Imagine an international hotel that upon checking out of 7 rooms (5 night stays) accuses people of stealing a 2016 Beijing map or a laundry bag & tries to charge them. Yes it's a nice place with nice rooms, but hospitality was awful. I saw a tired Chinese man on the soft with his eyes closed. Someone from the hotel yelled at him not to sleep. ||We were there a couple days before we discovered some shopping and restaurants behind the hotel. Otherwise it's isolated. Stay elsewhere if you...
