Nice tourist attraction. The bridge is (sort of) useless as it is for pedestrians only and has a ¥40 fee for getting on it. To get to the other side it is cheaper and faster to get on a bus to the other side. The bridge is brand new, there is not even moss or algae at the waterline, the white stone pavement is not stained and even the loudspeakers that give messages to the Chinese and play music only a tone-deaf can enjoy are working. Of course, like all such structures, it claims to be routed on history. There bridge is massive and from stone, with plenty of pavilions where one can actually rest and enjoy the river scene with the exception of a stretch that is made from wooden pontoons. Kulis could carry goods to and fro, but carts and horses could not. That is either an ancient defense or, as a guard claimed, because the can not/could not build bridge foundations in the fastest part of the river. Personally I doubt this, the Chinese had managed bigger fats in the past. The pontoons could be removed in case of an enemy attack from the other side of the river. Today it is part of the show to remove the middle part of the pontoons to allow goods shipment on the river during the night. There is a light show at nightly with projections and the illuminated hill at the...

In the middle of Guangji Bridge is a pontoon bridge consisting of eighteen shuttle boats. Walking on the pontoon bridge, you can have a special experience. Due to the need for navigation, the pontoon bridge is put aside at around 17:30 every day so that the cargo ships can pass through. If you happen to pass by at this time, you can also enjoy the amazing view of “removing bridge to cross...
Read moreGuangji Bridge built in the 12th century during the Southern Dong Dynasty is one of the 4 ancient stone-arch bridges in China. A masterpiece of Chinese architecture and engineering, the drawbridge of boats opens up after 5 pm to allow other boats to pass through. Strongly suggest to catch its 2 different sights in the day when the bridge connects the Han River and after sunset. The 8 pm light show enhances its beauty with illumination glow and a dazzling lights show. We enjoyed the soothing river breeze and were lucky to view the full moon on 15th lunar day brightening the sky. Do come earlier for a good spot to watch the laser performance. Also photo shoot the magical Guangji Gate Tower built on top of the...
