Wangxian Valley is renowned for its picturesque natural beauty, featuring mountainous cliffside hanging houses, cascading waterfalls, verdant fields, ancient villages, temples, and serene valleys.
Visitors to this remote and quiet destination are greeted by jubilant streams, pebble waterfalls, rammed earth walls, bluestone roads, and yellow-walled buildings. The area offers an ideal setting for scenic exploration, especially in the early afternoon when it is tranquil and serene.
Reaching Wangxian Valley can be challenging due to its remote location. Travelers typically take a train to Shangrao, followed by a one-hour taxi ride to the village. Alternatively, a bus from the Shangrao train station provides direct transportation to the scenic site, and shuttle services are available, especially during busy seasons.
For accommodation, visitors can either stay in the village, which is expensive but offers the benefit of receiving a pass to drive a small car up to the hilltop, or stay in a nearby town and make a day trip by taxi. A day trip is a popular and convenient option, requiring only a single entrance fee to access the valley.
Upon arrival, visitors must navigate numerous stairs, which, while not steep, are abundant. The climb is manageable, and the rewarding views from the top make the effort worthwhile. The valley is vast and includes numerous attractions such as gorge views, riverside villages built with an ancient city theme, and the unique hanging houses on cliffs, many of which serve as resort rooms.
The village becomes livelier as evening approaches, with colorful lighting transforming the area into a magical spectacle. Restaurants, food stalls, and evening shows in the main square add to the charm, making it ideal to arrive in the afternoon and stay until after dark. However, the location is not suitable for individuals with walking disabilities or those requiring wheelchairs due to the numerous stairs.
The warm and friendly shopkeepers and the delightful atmosphere of the valley is praise worthy. With careful planning and an early start, guests can enjoy private exploration time during the quieter hours and immerse themselves in the vibrant energy of the valley at night. Overall, Wangxian Valley offers a unique and memorable experience for those willing to make the...
Read moreFrom Sanqing Mountain, Our bus arrived at Wangxian Valley slightly after 5pm to check in for a night stay.
The rooms spread out like a maze with so many stairs ups and down & turns. Although our room are assigned near the Lobby, it is still a 10 mins walk on the stone walkways to carry our luggages to our room. It would be great if there is a buggy service /porters to assist.
Room is cosy , tastefully designed with all amenities provided There is a pouch with Universal phone charging cables for guest use too.
After dinner, as the night falls in Wangxian Valley, we took walks in between ancient buildings, food streets and restaurant within the resort . At this time, the whole Valley lights are on, it transforms into a magical scene , creating a surreal atmosphere from the spectacular view of all the wooden houses/inns built on the cliff.
Breakfast is good with many choices of Jiangxi cuisine, we enjoyed the food. Service is good and staff are attentive.
In the day, as construction is still on going expanding the resort, the view is not so nice. However, climbing up to the stairs leading to the cliff , we managed to get an aerial view of the Valley.
We did not much time to visit the Cliff Town, Three tier Waterfall and Bridge but to me Wangxian Valley is a picturesque place which integrate sightseeing, leisure , vacation and “fitness”…. Lots to walk, do not bring lots of luggage if you ever visit...
Read moreThere are several ways to get to this valley. I got there by taking a bus from the ShangRao train station. It goes directly to and from the scenic site. You could also take a taxi. There are also other shuttles (at least during the busy times). After the site closes there is a massive exodus of people and transportation options flood the valley.
I got there in the early afternoon. There was almost nobody there and it was very quiet and serene. People started arriving at dusk, but prior to that it felt like I had the whole park to myself.
Additionally, all of the shopkeepers were so sweet and kind. They were also very excited to meet a foreigner.
You have to walk up and down many stairs, but the view is worth it. Additionally, the mountain is not as big as I had feared. The mountains in Asia are much smaller than the Rockies. I went up and down it several times.
Overall it was very enjoyable. Getting there earlier gives you more private exploration time. After dark it becomes very lively and the lights are...
