The excavation of the NanHai salvaged ancient ship is complete, which has left a fragile hollow shell of the ships compartments. The scaffolding added to stabllize it has rendered it barely visible to visitors and very disappointing. The concept of this museum was cool, but current version is not really worth visiting. At least they did have English language captions for most items.

An amazing site where the whole sunken ancient trading junk is raised, stored and worked on its treasures. Shows the great sea trade of some 700 years ago and the associated pattern of trade, and of course the Maritime Silk Road details. In the middle of the very long beautiful sandy beach, dotted with hotels and apartments. Excellent cultural and fun escape for two days when...
