Read moreWe hiked Dragon's Back trail to get to the beach and arrived around 11:15 on a hot Monday morning (Memorial Day for us). There were only around ten other people there, but two lifeguards, several different small stands selling food, beer, sunscreen, drinks, etc. There were people renting umbrellas, chairs and surfboards. There was a drinking fountain, bathrooms/changing rooms and outdoor showers. The water was calm and warm and clean but I could not tell why this was called "Big Wave Bay" because the waves were non-existent, which I was OK with. We only stayed an hour and as we were there, the beach started to fill up. This was a beautiful beach, so nice that it had amenities and was the perfect middle stop to a four hour sweaty hike! Getting there was easy too, at least in the sense that the trail was well marked and well traveled.    Read moreWe decided to walk from the end of the trail of dragonâs back to big wave bay. I wouldnât recommend doing this since there isnât a pedestrian path so you have to walk directly on the road which isnât very safe (there are vehicles going by pretty frequently and the drive fast). I would recommend taking the number 9 bus instead which is quick and painless (we did this for the return journey and were glad we did).

There are a few shops around the beach so we sat nearby with a beer enjoying the sea air. There is also a trail going up at the other side of the beach which you can hike if youâre looking for a beautiful...
