Ho Lok Store — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

Extremely UNHAPPY experience here:

I specially asked for a 8’ board which I usually surfed on but the owner strangely insisted to let me a 8’4’’ at the beginning. He eventually moved away the nicer/newer 8’’ boards at the front and picked a older/impaired one with bulged foam surface.

After returning the board, I borrowed their tap and wanted to wash off the sands on my wetsuit before changing it. However, the owner suspected I was taking a shower (even though I was still wearing wetsuit) and rudely drove me out of the store after ~30sec.

Have been renting board here lots of times before the COVID-19 lockdown - honestly their service was ok back then even though not enjoyable. But unfortunately the experience today truly disappointed me and I would NEVER visit here anymore.

Recommending the other two stores down the alley who also offer softboards suitable for beginner/intermediates with equally good quality but...

This is a weird review, but I accidentally left my wallet at this shop after buying some drinks for the beach, and forgot about it until I got back to central. I was panicking so much since all of my stuff including my HK ID card was in there. After the most worrying taxi ride of my life, I got there and they were waiting for me with my wallet and all of its contents. When I tried to offer them money as a thank you, they declined it.

This reminded me that there are some good people left in this world, and for that I am so grateful to the people who own and work at this shop, since it could have been a much different story on another day.
