The Kiu Tsui Country Park is the smallest of the designated countries in Hong Kong covering an area of only 100 hectares in the Port Shelter of Sai Kung. Within this area are eight outlying islands, most notably the popular day trip destination of Sharp Island and the adjacent island called Kiu Tau which is connected by way of a tombolo (land bridge) when tide levels are below 1.4 meters.
Most visitors use sampan or kaito ferry transportation from the Sai Kung New Ferry Pier to Sharp Island, which has two ferry piers (HK$30 return to Sharp Island) in the north and (HK$40 return to Hap Mun Beach) in the south of the island. The island is very popular for swimming, snorkelling and exploring, including the short designated UNESCO Geo Trail area near the main ferry pier where you can find geological features dating back nearly 140 years when the entire area around Sai Kung was a super volcano. The southern beach of Hap Mun is also very popular for weekend day trippers to Sharp Island.
The rest of the Kiu Tsui Country Park can be experienced by way of round trip boat trips that usually last around 1 hour, circling Sharp Island and passing near to the smaller islands of the park. These boat trips also depart from the Sai Kung New Ferry Pier. They usually HK$50+ can be arranged with many of the same collection of operators that sell the direct trips to...

We got the ferry back to Sai Kung from this location and had to pay an extra $10 each. Worth the walk and views. Lovely day out. The beach had clean changing rooms and...
