There are a nice beach on the southern side of Lantau Island along at Pui O. It is around 700 metres long and is of mixed black and yellow sand and a popular weekend and holiday location for those looking for a bit of fun in the sun and camping on Lantau Island.
There is a lifeguard station, beach shack cafe. Rentals and open camping is allowed in areas of Pui O Beach as well. Note however, that the beach is technically closed, as are all beaches due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Not sure when it will officially reopen at this time.
You will find Pui O Beach from the village by simply walking south towards the sea. The beach stretches the entire length of the village from west to east. It is accessible from Mui O by taxi, public bus (less than 10 minutes) or by hiking the Lantau Island Trail section 12 which connects these two villages...

It’s quite easy to get to the beach. You can take bus no.1/2/3M/4 from many places in Lantau, then it’s just a few minutes walk from the bus stop.
There were cows around but they were just there to chill so there’s nothing to worry about. Only that the beach isn’t a pet friendly beach, so beware if you want to bring your pet...
