Tai Tam Mound Waterfall — Attraction in Hong Kong

Beautiful hike from Hong Kong trail 4 to 5. The waterfall is a fantastic place to have a picnic and there is a large pool where you can cool off. You are at the top of the fall and you can't see the water falling down but there is a constant stream of water rushing down creating little pools of water. I decided to take off my socks and shoes and dunked them into one of the said pools. Iwas bliss. What was missing was a cool bottle of beer. Water was not too hot or too cold but at the perfect temperature. No need for a towel as the sun dried off my feet in minutes.

As I was leaving another 2 groups came along and it looked like they were going to take a well deserved dip into the main big pool as they began to strip off. See pic.

Need to remember to bring a couple of cans for next time.

This is a busy route as there is gorgeous reservoirs with large koi carp in and one with a fountain. So getting back can be a pain as the bus is only every 30 mins and...

Beautiful waterfall, though you're not allowed to swim in the pool directly below the waterfall itself (two workmen appeared while I was there to chase people out who were swimming there).

I don't know why you're not allowed to swim in that part because about 30 metres down steam there is another, smaller and less deep pool you are allowed to swim in!

You can also relax on the rocks directly above the waterfall. Overall this is a nice place for a picnic. I didn't see any mosquitoes and the trees provide welcome shade from the sun. And it's only a 20 minute walk from...

This waterfall is hidden away off the path of one of the hiking trails at Tai Tam dam. You have to navigate down a short, but very steep slope, to get to the waterfall. The waterfall is really nice, and it is a perfect opportunity to cool off a bit after a long hike. The pool below the waterfall is not terribly big, but deep enough to do a little swimming.
