Known as a raised sea arch. The sandstone making up the arch and found nearby belongs to Tai O Formation. The typical sandstones of the formation are found along the coast northeast of Tai O where the dip is moderate (40–60 degree) to the south. The rock layers are bedded and generally display a variety of sedimentary structures such as cross-bedding. They have been extensively modified due to bioturbation and shrinkage cracks.
