How does this place get 4.6 stars rating ? Personally, I don’t think this place is worth the time and money.
We visited Mount Emei for its thousand years old history. But the four faces golden Buddha at the top was built in 2006. And most temples, statues and structures at the top are all relatively new. We may have missed something but we didn’t see anything that resembles thousands years old.
A temple is not supposed to collect entrance fee. This place does. 160 yuan per adult ticket. Plus you have to pay for bus tickets and most likely pay for the optional cable car 🚠 which are not cheap. They pack 100 persons into one cable car and people would un-politely race and push for good spots in the packed cable car. And the view going up is not as impressive Tianmen Mountain
it collects high entrance fee but doesn’t maintain the bathrooms clean and the path clean. You will enter dirty bathrooms and see many trashes along the climb
while many tour guides don’t use loud speakers here but many shops do. The speakers noise are annoying. Isn’t mountain temple and its paths are supposed to be peaceful and quiet?
along the way, vendors all sell similar products. These stalls are most likely owned by the same companies. There is no uniqueness to the shops
Visiting Mount Emei feel like visiting a tourist attraction instead a holy ancient temples. It is too commercialized for profit.
I do not think this place is worth the money if not the time also. I doubt how many are remained from the thousand years old temple. The name Emei temple are used to attract tourist to the modern built temples and statues.
Would not recommend this place for the price and time one needs to spend to get up there. Not worth the...

The ascent is a journey in itself. For those who find the hike challenging, personal carriers are available for a price, which seems to vary depending on your size and can be negotiated, especially if you have a knowledgeable guide. This unique mode of transport really adds a unique cultural touch to the experience.
At the midway point, you’ll reach the cable car station. The ride offers stunning views, but the experience can be a bit chaotic. Tourists often rush in aggressively, pushing for window spots to snap photos and videos, even when space is tight. It’s a bit of a squeeze, but the views are worth it.
After exiting the cable car, a short walk up and down stairs past the restaurant zone leads to the Golden Summit — a truly grand and awe-inspiring sight. The massive golden statue gleams against the sky, surrounded by clouds and mountain peaks. It’s a moment of visual and spiritual impact.
The restaurants near the summit serve authentic Sichuan dishes, offering a delicious reward for your journey. From spicy stir-fries to warming soups, the food is flavorful and satisfying.
The summit is also home to various temples, housing thousands of Buddha statues. These sacred spaces invite quiet reflection and prayer, making the mountain not just a scenic destination but a...
Read moreI visited Emei Mountain a few years ago, and the experience still lingers in my memory like the mountain's ever-present mist. Starting our journey from Chengdu, we hopped on a bullet train, which was fast and comfortable. Once we arrived, we switched to a bus Cable car that took us up the mountain—a ride that felt like an adventure in itself. I remember we had to pay at several checkpoints along the way, but the excitement of heading toward the summit made it all feel worth it.
As we climbed higher, the landscape transformed into a dreamy, surreal world. The mountain was blanketed in thick clouds and mist, giving everything an ethereal, almost otherworldly vibe. While we couldn’t see much of the panoramic views that Emei is famous for, the atmosphere was so peaceful and mystical that it didn’t matter. In fact, the mist made it even more beautiful in its own quiet, magical way.
We spent the night at a small inn on the mountain, which added a rustic charm to the whole experience. In the morning, we made our way back to Chengdu, hearts full and cameras foggy. Even without the clear skies, Emei Mountain left a lasting impression—one of serenity, beauty, and a touch...
