Come here after 4.30pm when the heat of the sun is waning to see fabulous views of Sanya from any point, and then watch the sunset over South China Sea - majestic!
For tourists - bring your passport then go to the ticket office to buy a RMB28.00 (around £3) return ticket for a small bus trip that takes you part of the way up the peak, you then do a nice 10 minute walk to the peak. There are shops and restaurants along the way - touristy but gives you places to duck-out of the heat for refreshments. In the evening, the lights are turned on around the park and many Chinese citizen come up with their families to see the evening sights.
You can also walk up and down for free but the heat and humidity makes it hard work so paying the small bus fee is worth it!

Once further up, you'll be presented with some great views of Sanya city, the beach and Phoenix island. The central attraction will be the huge statue of the deer which has a love story behind it.
There is a slide at the top but you may feel it's not worth the asking price. You'll probably be better off taking a gentle stroll back down to catch the buggy back to the entrance/exit and enjoy the lush floral surroundings. However, although very rare, do be aware there maybe snakes...
