A must‑visit cultural treasure in Hebei!
Hebei Museum is an absolute delight for anyone interested in history, culture, or simply spending a meaningful half‑day in a beautiful setting. Best of all — it’s completely free to the public! You just need to make a quick reservation on WeChat, which is simple and convenient.
From the moment you arrive, everything is thoughtfully arranged. There’s free parking right outside, and free lockers to store your bags before you enter, so you can explore hands‑free. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and even with plenty of visitors, the atmosphere feels relaxed and well‑organized.
Hebei Province has a rich and ancient history — the land of the Yan and Zhao states — and the museum does a fantastic job of bringing that heritage to life. The exhibits are beautifully curated, covering everything from ancient artifacts to cultural relics, and the free guided commentary is outstanding. I learned so much about the region’s past, from its role in early Chinese civilization to its more recent history.
The building itself is spacious and modern, with plenty of room to wander at your own pace. Whether you’re a history buff or just curious, you’ll find something fascinating in every hall.
Highly recommended for locals and travelers alike — it’s the perfect place to spend a few hours, immerse yourself in Hebei’s story, and leave with a deeper appreciation for this remarkable province. I’ll...
Read moreThe first attraction I decided to visit was the Hebei Museum as it was located very close to my hotel. Outside the museum was a large open space where there were hundreds and hundred of pigeons and a large crowd of people feeding them. Good way to start my travels here in Shijiazhuang by seeing all these happy faces. I spent a good 30 minutes outside trying to get some pictures of the flying pigeons.
The museum itself is free, and looked very impressive from the outside. However on the inside almost all the halls were closed, with only 2 small halls on the left and right being left open. Inside the halls there really wasnt much to see as it was mostly photographs of shijiazhuang being put up for viewing.
Overall i think it could be worth dropping by the museum to take some shots with the pigeon but otherwise I would pass on the Museum. China has alot of really great museums that I would...
