Straight out of a Tim Burton movie. Monsters turned into home features (don't miss the fireplace). Creepy crawlies fashioned from steel descending from the ceiling. Infinite bizarre details that will leave you smiling for days. It was both incredible and inspiring. I was left wondering how many times the artist wanted to quit in the process of constructing what to some seemed probably mostly bizarre and maybe even impossible. You can walk around and inside this amazing earthship for hours and you'll never catch every detail. It's haunting, mystifying, and worth every peso and second.

La Casa Terracota is a very interesting house. The entrance fee is 10 000 pesos which I thought it was a bit too expensive at the beginning but it's worth a visit. You can go there by foot or you can even rent a bicycle which is a 10 minute trip from the city. There is no explanation nor a guide but we got to talk to a man working there and he explained us that the architect who built this house wanted to live inside but at the end he just stayed 4 days. It took 15 years to finish it.

Este es un lugar maravilloso, sobre todo para las personas que disfrutan del arte y de una apasionante historia tras el artista. Esta cerca a Villa de Leyva y se puede ir caminando, en carro o en los tours que se ofrecen en el pueblo. ( esta última opción no nos parece óptima porque limita mucho el tiempo para las fotografías y para recorrer el lugar a detalle) Nosotros hemos ido en un par de ocasiones, y es mejor ir entre semana o en fin de semana sin festivo para evitar la congestión y lograr mejores fotos. La historia del lugar es apasionante y los guías hacen el recorrido muy ameno. Además que la historia le da mucho valor a la construcción. Algunos datos: 1. Está construida totalmente en barro cocido, metal o madera son solo accesorios. 2. Cuenta con electricidad, agua y gas funciónales. 3. No fue concebida como lugar turístico, sino para ser habitada. 4. La decoración interna es realmente atractiva. 5. Ha ganado varios premios internacionales, pero por algunos detalles no posee un récord Guinness. La entrada tiene un valor de $40.000 y hay algunos descuentos para estudiantes o docentes presentando carnet. El valor puede percibirse como elevado pero luego de salir hay una sensación de que valió la pena. Hay que tomarse el tiempo para tomar fotos de diferentes ángulos, y seguro los resultados les encantarán (buscar referencias o inspiración en Instagram) Ojalá les sirva y lo disfruten

We loved the Casa Terracota! We were looking for touristic plans around Villa de Leyva, and we found that this place was an attraction. At first, we didn't know what to expect because in pictures the house just looked weird, but we had a huge surprise when we went through the whole place. It's such a nice mixed of art and architecture, almost like a labyrinth. We loved the artwork that is all around the place.

Overpriced. They don’t allow you to see the house from the outside to decide if it’s worth the money or not. I only read the comments after arriving at the place and decided it wasn’t worth it. I agree with the negative reviews. If you also hate tourist traps, avoid this one. Spend your money where you’ll truly get value for it. Thanks to all the reviewers, thanks to you, I left the place without paying.
