Commonly known as La Candelaria, is an absolute gem. Set high in the mountains. Aswell as the cacao / coffee farm tours it also has a few rooms to rent. The tours, we hear are very informative. However, with less time we preferred to snap some pictures and just buy some produce. ||||At the time of arriving a tour was already on full swing. Obviously, not for the coffee aspect. The relaxed atmosphere of the place was very appealing. The family were friendly and welcoming. Their beautiful Boxer dogs kissed and rolled over for Belly rubs. ||||The owners were also very accomodating, even though we preferred not to do the tour, because of time constraints, we were free to wander around the compound, enjoy delights of the cafe, and shop a little with their delicious produce.||||Anna was so helpful, communicating as best we could with our poco Espanol, and she showed us the Cacao plants. The fruit comes out between February and July. Colourful delights in her beautiful garden, including non spicy but hugely flavoursome peppers, an abundance of banana plants, orange and lemon trees, and many other species of flora all help to create a paradise far away from the distant crowds of Santa Marta. La candelaria was truly a wonderful haven. ||||||Anna, was so wonderfully hospitable, she let us try some of the fruits of their labour. The pequeno peppers weren’t hot as expected, but sweet and crisp, a delicious addition to salads. It was fabulous to try straight from the plant. Much tastier than the supermarket variety!||||||We both even got the bonus of a chocolate face mask! Our kinda masks 😉||||||It was a fun element to end our time at the farm as well as purchasing some chocolate goodies to take home. We highly recommend you stop by at this place of deliciousness...

We recently visited La Candelaria on the recommendation of our moto taxi driver. It was one of the best decisions of our trip! First, the finca is located high up in the mountains and the view is beautiful! There are also beautiful plants and flowers along the path, which was a huge plus for me. ||Eugenio and Ana were so welcoming. We hiked up the last bit and as soon as we arrived, Ana offered us a cold drink. Then we enjoyed the view and saw some beautiful birds eating birds. Sometimes you can see tucans, but we were not lucky enough. When the tour begins (it can be given in English or Spanish), Eugenio points out a plethora of fruit trees. You will see maracuya, guava, mango, papaya, and more. Then, he shows you the cacao flower, the fruit, the tree...explains the growth and harvest process, and some of the challenges and how they combat them. It is fun and interactive, on top of extremely interesting. ||From there, you learn about the process of processing cacao and get to do some taste testing. It is delicious. Eugenio even makes a cacao based face mask that will leave you skin feeling moisturized. ||||10/10 would recommend. The passion for their craft is so evident and you will love...

My visit to the La Candelaria Coffee and Cocoa Tour was a truly enlightening and enjoyable experience. This tour provided a fantastic opportunity to delve into the world of coffee production, gaining insights into the meticulous process that brings that morning cup of coffee to life.

From start to finish, the tour was both educational and engaging. The guides were passionate and knowledgeable, sharing their expertise about the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of coffee and cocoa beans. Learning about the various stages, from planting the beans to roasting them to perfection, was not only informative but also deepened my appreciation for these beloved beverages.

One of the highlights was the hands-on experience offered during the tour. Tasting freshly brewed coffee and rich cocoa made from the very beans we had just learned about was a delightful treat for the senses.

Moreover, the tour was set in the picturesque surroundings of La Candelaria, adding to the charm of the experience. The lush green coffee plantations and cocoa groves served as a stunning backdrop for our...

We did the cacao tour which was easy to organise over WhatsApp. There are 2 English tours per day. It was interesting to taste the cacao and then chocolate at different stages of the process, make chocolate paste and candies and sample those too. The guy giving our tour was funny and explained how cacao production differs in Colombia compared to other parts of the world. The tour was only an hour and felt quite short, it could have been lengthened given how remote La Candelaria is from other places, but we still learnt a lot in that hour. The tour was 30000 cop each and includes tasting some chocolate and a chocolate/ /coffee face mask at the end (antioxidants/anti-aging!) There are also amazing views from where La Candelaria is. We got mototaxis from our accommodation (La Veranda) to the farm which cost 25000 cop each, and then from the farm to Marinka waterfall (another 25000 cop). But we saw a few other people walking all the way up from Minca which looked hard given how steep and muddy it can get, but would’ve been very rewarding.

Just finished the cocoa tour!! Highly recommend! It starts with the tour guide talking about the cocoa plant in general - how it’s planted, the climate it grows in, the problems cocoa farmers face etc. Our tour guide, Elki (sorry if I haven’t written your name correctly), was extremely knowledgable and friendly. Then you’re taken to how chocolate is made from the cocoa beans - this is the best part!! You get to taste the bean at multiple stages of its life as it is being turned into chocolate. It finishes with a hot chocolate - the purest chocolate you will ever try! Oh and you can try a chocolate face mask! It’s also set in a beautiful historical farm that is about 100 years old with the business being passed down three generations. It’s about 20,000 COP for a motor taxi up to the farm and, considering it is so steep up, I’d suggest you take one and walk down. All in all, a really local and authentic experience where you can learn how they are cultivating the land in the Minca area.
