Takitumu Conservation Area — Attraction in Takitumu

Beautiful beach, great for snorkeling. Snorkeling gear available on rest just on the opposite side of the road at small shacks.7-10$ per hour. Sadly the coral reef is deteriorating due to global warming, hope humanity out sufficient efforts towards improving our own attitude and behavior. Must visit place at Rarotonga. 5 stars is not enough to justify the serene atmosphere...

Visited this spot to look for the kakerori (Rarotonga monarch). Our tour guide Ian Karika was great and shared some info about the conservation area and flora fauna present as we walked through the beautiful forest. Would definitely recommend this spot if you're interested in birds. Need to book a tour with Ian on advance as it's not open...

This was the best thing I have done on Rarotonga!! Keep in mind I am a conservationist and avid birdwatcher. Ian was knowledgeable and passionate, and led the most wonderful tour. He has a magical ability of attracting the rare Rarotongan flycatcher and then delighted us with a hike up to see the flying foxes....
