We stopped here on our way from Playa Hermosa to La Fortuna to burn some energy. It was a really nice stop for myself and the kids. There wasn’t too many people there, we went mid day on a Wednesday I believe. We swam at the waterfall, saw so many monkeys and hiked to the river up top…there was a massive amount of mosquitoes up there though.

There was a super nice man, Michael or Mathew maybe, that didn’t work for the park but would show people around. He took us to this water hole and my kids did some rock jumping…so much fun. I wish we would have brought a few bucks bc between that and the wildlife he showed us it was worth it.

The walk wasn’t bad. Yes there are stairs, no it’s not wheelchair accessible and if you have mobility issues it might not be the right fit for a stop. However, I wouldn’t consider myself super in shape or an avid hiker and I was able to do it fine, along with the kids. The parking lot had security, bathrooms and...

I’m honestly surprised seeing all the five star reviews. This place was super overpriced for what you get to see. You walk down to a very small area, which was packed with people when we were there, only to see the one main waterfall. There are people there who follow you around if you try to look around, and even yelled “stop!” to me when I went to the side where the river is to simply look at the water there. It felt like they were policing anything you did, and did not allow you to explore any paths without paying for a “guide” for a one minute walk to a water hole. It was very odd and we spent maybe fifteen minutes down there total for $8/person. Would not go again or recommend...

Cortez Waterfall is an easy, quick stop from Liberia and worth the visit if you’re already exploring the area. The walk down is short, the space opens up nicely at the bottom.

During rainy season, the water isn’t clear — it turns more brown and heavy from the runoff — but the flow is stronger, and the falls themselves look more powerful. Even without the bright turquoise water you see in dry-season photos, the spot is still impressive and good for cooling off.

It’s a simple place: no major facilities, just a natural waterfall you can reach without a long hike. Good for a quick swim, photos, or a stop on the way to other attractions...

We loved this visit. It’s so unbelievably beautiful. It is very safe and has a secure parking lot that you must pass a park attendant at a stand to get into. There is a small outdoor market stall with art and treasures, no food. We visited during the weekday, and there was barely anyone there. It is all stairs to get down to the bottom, very manageable. The hike to the top of the waterfall is definitely more uneven, but just watch your step and it’s doable. The water here glitters with all the mica in it. We ended up lounging in the shade and reading, while monkeys relaxed overhead. Maybe my favorite spot on my trip.
