We drove from Playa Carrillo early on a Tuesday morning, hoping to see some turtles ... nope ... no turtles, monkeys, or people around but we saw turtle tracks from last night's nesting ... and some black vultures. There are nesting sites everywhere (shallow depressions in the sand) and the beach is littered with shards of their leathery eggs ... hopefully from successful hatching and not from predation. We did see one nesting site that was freshly excavated by a predator (racoon?) and the empty egg shells strewn around the hole. The drive is about 16km of gravel road from the last of the pavement near the Oro River - a little bumpy but doable. The last 50 meters is very rutted out but passible in a sedan if you know what you are doing and make sure to keep your tires on the high parts. The drive along the cocoanut trees by the beach is sandy and could be a problem for a 2 wheel drive car.

Es una playa bonita, pero necesitas llevar de todo para pasar el rato, no hay nada cerca

Playa Corozalito is an out of the way, secluded beach. It is fantastic for seing sea turtles, laying in the soft sand for sun bathing or to hang a hammock between a couple of the plentiful palm trees. This is not a great swimming beach. Pounding surf and rip tides will carry you or your small children away. So it is perfect or a terrible beach, depending on what you want. Personally, I liked the variety from other beaches and loved that it wasn't a crowded beach. The motorcycle ride here was also a treat.

We ended up having an experience of a lifetime at this beach. First, this is not a swimming beach due to strong riptides. It is very secluded and only a few locals around. After exploring we were about to leave when we were approached by a wonderful family with baby turtles in a basket. We ended up spending almost 2 hours helping baby turtles coming out of their nests make their way to the water safely and keeping the birds away. We are talking 100's of baby turtles! These are such kind locals to do this and let us experience saving these little gems with...
