5 hours from the central valley. Perfect road till the last 40 kms where the street brings us to Hojancha. From here the world transforms. We get to small dirty roads, and pass by Hojancha, as the time also has passed by without changing it much.
We get to the intersection to Carrillo or Punta Islita and the dirty roads get dirtier. A zig-zag road bring us to the Ora river, and 10 kms after that we arrive to Punta Islita. Small Town that we pass by and 10 minutes after we arrive at hotel Palma de Oro. Take your time on the way from Punta Islita to the hotel. Not only because of the zig-zag road but because of the amazing cliff views into the ocean.
The hotel is a small 14-room complex. As we entered through the main gate we see a clean, well designed area that welcomes you and makes you forget the 5-hour ride. You are in small heaven in the middle of nowhere. Just 5 minutes walk from the always half empty Corozalito beach ( watch the riptide if you like ocean swimming ).
From here you walk to one of the rooms and you glance at the pool area by the restaurant. The rooms come in 3 sizes, but are all well designed and comfortable. Air conditioning, fan ceiling, safety box, hot water shower and king size bed (the room we got was a superior room with 2 single beds put together, so I didn't appreciated the separation between the mattresses).
Although you are in the middle of the mountain you won't miss any of the needs you could have. The personnel is here to take care of any need.
The restaurant has a balanced menu and the cooking, taste and presentation are extremely good. Really tasty food at every time of the day.
Corozalito town is really small. You will find a small store, 1 restaurant ( that we never got to see open ) and the beach. That's it.
If you are looking for a place where you can disconnect, without missing anything from the modern Life, give a shot to the Palma de Oro hotel. You won't regret it.
See you around and...
Read moreWe live about 25 min. from Palma de Oro several months out of the year. It opened last year and we were so excited to have such an exceptional Hotel/Restaurant open so near us. We have eaten there 3 times and each time the meals have been excellent! It is our favorite place. We loved sitting on the veranda in the restaurant hearing the ocean waves breaking. The staff is very willing to help and accommodate you. They showed us some of the rooms and they are very high quality and nicely done. If you want to escape to somewhere wonderful, this is the place. A gem in a...
Read moreThis hotel and restaurant are closed. The grounds are maintained by some folks living on the property but otherwise there is no staff, no sign and nothing here on Google to let you know that this business is not open. We were able to enter a gate that was open which closed behind us, stranding us inside until we could find someone to let us out by shouting for help. Definitely a weird vibe for what looks like an otherwise gorgeous place. I would recommend they at least list themselves as closed here on Google so others can avoid the creepy awkwardness of getting locked...
