This was a very uncomfortable and upsetting experience. I believe many of the animals were placed there and I regret giving money to this business. Our “guide” took us through a tiny piece of forest and he seemed to know already where each animal would be and that we would see multiple sloths. The entire tour lasted about 30 minutes and cost $30 USD for 2 people. At one point he asked us, “are you afraid of snakes?” then we walked about 10 metres ahead on the trail and he “spotted” a yellow eyelash viper sitting in a tree at eye level directly beside the trail. It felt rehearsed. Somehow many things we saw were very close to or on the trail and at a good level to look at or take photos of. Most upsetting was a sloth that was very low to the ground directly next to the trail moving around on a little branch and surrounded by people taking photos of it. Some people asked why it was on the ground but none of the guides around really answered. They said sloths come down from trees to poop once a week, but this one was obviously not pooping. From what we understand it is recommended to stay at least 3 metres or 10 feet from any sloth to avoid causing it stress. People were putting their phones a foot or two from it to take photos. They did tell us not to take selfies with it because that is illegal and no one we saw did that but people got just as close as you would to take a selfie. Our guide also showed us a red eyed tree frog sleeping on a leaf right beside the trail and then did something to wake it up but he made sure we stopped taking photos and he hid what exactly he was doing to the frog. One person asked if it would be able to go back to sleep after being woken up and he didn’t answer. We also felt very rushed. He would point something out, wait about two or three minutes, ask us if we got good photos and then move on, walking quickly. It felt like an unnatural and overpriced assembly line tourist trap. After this we hiked for 3 hours in the rainforest 10 minutes away from here and saw no wildlife anywhere near the trails...
Read moreMy family of 11, visiting from Florida, had an awesome time visiting Spring Paradise for their wildlife tour. This was a fairly last-minute trip we decided on and reached out to them same day via Whatsapp by which they were very responsive and accommodating. After learning of birthdays in our group, the tour guide and admins went way above and beyond to make the newly 7 yr olds feel special (chocolate cake and all). We felt very blessed to find this tour company.... they were like family.
The tour was great as well. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and we saw everything.....tapir, birds (including Tucans), vipers, dart frogs and red eyed tree frogs, and, of course, sloths (many).....including a fairly young sloth who was right at eye level and was incredibly cute. The tourguide was very patient and went way beyond teaching our teenagers how to take the best pics through binoculars (spent a lot of time with them, which wasn't required of him)
All-in-all, I would highly recommend this company, their tours and tour guides. You won't be...
Read moreStopped in randomly to see if I could see sloths, I was not expecting too much and didn't look into this place before hand. However it definitely was far better then I had expected. The guide Jonny I believe was so engaged in what he was teaching and didn't stop smiling. You could tell how passionate he is about the wildlife in the area and sharing his knowledge with others. The sloths are in the wild, they are not brought out in cages only there for tourism. It's a beautiful small hike and he brings lenses so you can see them way up in the trees. He was also able to teach about some of the frogs in the area and birds and plants. It truly was a beautiful experience. Ask them about how they are getting the community involved with the eco projects just learning about that was wonderful. Highly recommended this place for people who believe in what they are doing and have a real...
