I rarely write negative reviews but I wish we had been informed before visiting. My husband and I tried to look up information on Batsu on google maps and their website. We did not see anything about requiring reservations so we just showed up at 6 am. No one was there and the feeders were from the day before- empty. We waited around expecting someone to come- we saw a credit card machine on the counter and were ready to pay.
An hour later a gardener showed up and spoke no English. He put us on the phone with his boss and he wanted payment immediately. We felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Very unlike most of the other reviews here. We were told we could only spend 3 hours for $25/pp. We didn’t want to pay for time spent with no fresh feeders, so just made the choice to start the 3 hours after we paid.
Yes, it’s beautiful, but I think it was overpriced and too much of a hassle. Had we known Miriam’s was just up the street, we would have never bothered with Batsu. Go to Miriam’s and enjoy delicious fruit smoothies while watching the birds at her feeder. There is no...
Read moreI had a magical, one-of-a-kind experience at Batsu. I arrived at 6 AM sharp and was the only person around for three hours when I was joined by a group of 4 other visitors who were respectful and quiet as to not disturb the birds. The garden makes for the most tranquil and peaceful morning with no noise except birdsong and the river down below. Eventually Marino, the caretaker of the garden property, arrived and asked me how I like the garden, if I enjoy my time - he was wanting to make sure I had a great time. After he filled up the feeders and seeds he invited me to hand-feed the hummingbirds which was an incredible experience. He then also offered me a car ride down the hill to the parking lot because my car wasn't a 4x4 and on the way up the gardeners kindly took me up in their vehicle.
The garden has free FAST wi-fi, water and juice, it's very well-maintained and clean and a beautiful spot for...
Read moreOn Thursday 3rd Feb 2022 my wife and I booked entry tickets for next day from the cafe (fabulous food and very nice people) at the bottom of the drive leading to Batsu. Next day we walked up to Batsu and sat in one of the terraced areas looking at the humming birds. A few minutes later a man arrived and ordered us to leave immediately. He was the owner and said the garden had been booked for an exclusive group. He became extremely aggressive and rude, being quite threatening in his demeanour. It was very embarrassing for us and the group of bird watchers he had brought. My wife became very upset at his aggressive behaviour. He asked how much we had paid ($US25 but there may be a lower price?) and thrust some bank notes at us telling us to get out. We did so feeling very upset and threatened as we had made no mistakes or done anything wrong. Avoid . It is not worth the price anyway...
