Beautiful and free of people beach with a bumpy road to survive. Visited in late June, during a cloudy day in the afternoon and we enjoyed a long beach with only eight people met (two surfers, one yoga practitioner and few tourists). Waves were stronger than in other beaches we met in CR but enjoyable to fight with :). On the way to the beach, you need to go through a really unpaved road with lots of holes but you can see some aircraft arriving/departing (as you go next to local small airport) and meet also leguans and beautiful butterflies.

Great beach just some 6km outside Puerto Jimenez. In the morning literally nobody else seen. Some palm trees are there for relaxing in the shades. Clear water. No toilet, cafe or shops nearby.

We spent an afternoon on this beach in September and it was wonderful. There were only 6 Ticos sharing the beach with us near the parking lot. A 5 minute walk down the beach gave us a the private beach without any development.

The road to the beach had some large puddles that were easily passed with basic 4x4 and decent tires. None of the puddles were more than 30cm deep.

The water was very warm ~ 28C. Do not expect a refreshing dip in cold water along this beach. The plus is that you can spend long periods of time in the water...

15th feb '24 Beautiful beach and no payment needed. There are a lots of birds, like the ara parrot and pelican. We were until our hips in the water when low tide set in and we saw 2 rays of 40cm swimming on the wave. Look for the dusty areas in the water and look around it. If you're lucky you'll see one. Second time in the water I was specifically looking for them and it took me...
