This park is a bit of a hike unless you live in Heredia. But it's a great place at a reasonable price for parties. WARNING: it gets very cold on top of the mountain. Unlike most other places in the central valley, you'll definately want to wear jeans and a warm shirt up there and probably a jacket too. The area gets wind ranging from gentle to pretty rough. And its cold enough that most gusts are damp (and cold) from the humidity on the Limon/Carabean side of the mountain. It's kid friendly, with lots of play and exercise areas. It's dog friendly with lots of space, but bring bagies to take care of their business. It closes early, so no late night parties. And don't bring any alcohol, as that's prohibited. Do be ready to enjoy a large grassy field surrounded by old cloud forest growth...

It a nice place, don't assume it's name that it is a real Forrest, think of it like a big big backyard. It hace a really nice open green area, where everybody sits down and have their picnic. Theere are a few sections equipped with grill and so, for the lucky early birds tgar arrive to the site. Walking paths have no indications where you are at or if you want to get out, how to do it without expending hours of your life- a good thing if it's not raining, like what happened to me, if it's raining. ...- Finally and what really desappointed me was the so called river:If you are doing to walk though te trails, don't do it thinking you'll find the perfect river or water fall, cause you will sit and cry...

Great hiking! Beautiful trees and creeks. No actual map so bring a gps if you are on a tight schedule. Otherwise it’s fenced in so you will eventually get back to the entrance. Fees are minimal ($9 for two adults and 2 kids plus a car) definitely recommend. There is no food inside so bring your own or venture out to the many restaurants outside. We found one right outside that was good (restaurante Carie) and there was a pond and a little boat you can...

Well worth an afternoon trip from Heredia. Buses leave Heredia frequently, on the 1/2 hour, I think, from the bus stop on Avenida 4, opposite Manuel María Gutiérrez Park. 600 colones for the ride. The trails are not especially well marked, but the park is small, and it is possible to feel quite "in the woods" without too straying too far or being too worried about losing your way.
