Hidden gem of wildlife viewing. We've driven by the Baru Refuge so many times; however it's size is deceiving. The refuge is over 800 acres! Skip Manual Antonio and come to Baru to see all the animals, birds, amphibians, reptiles and insects. Free entrance and plenty of secure parking. We only walked one of the trails and saw pecari, agouti, and one coati. Easy to get to as it's right off of the main highway, the downside being that there is some traffic noise. Still, the paths were more scenic and natural than a lot of the "hikes" on AllTrails!
