This is a review of the lodge. |We spent one night here, and also did the Night Hike and Flight of the Toucan zipline. It was all great. Our little 3 bedroom house was exceptionally clean. We were very comfortable there, and we saw a ton of wildlife right in our backyard, including coati and agouti. I was very worried about the lack of AC (especially after arrival on the South Pacific coast when I realized how hot and humid it was) but it was seriously okay. They have giant fans on the walls aimed at the beds. I slept with light pajamas and just the sheet, and actually woke up cold and pulled up the blanket. We used the kitchen to cook dinner and had no issues. (It was just a simple dinner of quesadillas so we didn’t need much equipment but they had everything we needed.). The pool was great and refreshing, and food at the restaurant was good. One thing to be aware of: the free breakfast is made to order, not a buffet, so it takes a while. Breakfast starts at 7:00 and our zipline was at 8:00, and they asked us to check out before the zipline since checkout is at 11 and it can sometimes take 3 hours on the zips. So, we had a lot to do before 8:00, and the slow breakfast service made it tricky. Breakfast took nearly an hour (I went back to pack up our house while waiting for the food). We made it to the zipline with just a minute to spare. This isn’t a criticism of the breakfast service - it’s typical for Costa Rica and the food was delicious. But it’s something to be aware of if doing the morning zipline. Plan to be at breakfast at 7:00, and be totally ready to go. Overall, though, it was great and we really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely...

Read moreI came to Costa Rica with a few friends and a goal to see frogs. The end of our trip rolled by and we hadn't seen any frogs yet. We had seen monkeys, sloths, birds, and everything but frogs. So in frantic desperation I searched for a night walk near Uvita where we could see the red eyed tree frog. What I found was this lodge and their night walk. Let me tell you IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We spent the night searching with Jorje for animals in the dark while he told us facts about what we were seeing. I learned so much, I saw so much, and I had so much fun. At the end of the walk, after we were all very tired, Jorje brought us back to the kitchen and gave us smoothies he had prepared in advance! Talk about a way to end the night! Some highlights of the animals we saw was the Ant Eater hiding in a tree, the Kinkajou sleeping peacefully on a branch, the sloths looking at Jorje making his whistle, and the various different types of tree frogs we found including not one BUT TWO red eyed tree frogs. This was a phenomenal experience and if I ever find myself back in this part of the world will do it again and explore the other tours they have to offer. 10/10, best deal you'll find today. I took many great photos on my camera and will try to update this review with them in the coming months, but if I don't get around to that just know how amazing...
