Unfortunately, I am here to share a story of terrible customer service. I started the day super excited to go bungee jumping (a bucket list activity, as it is for many). We were told to get geared up where we were met with not so friendly employees, I don't know if they were shy but they didn't even greet us or smile or try to make us feel at ease before such a big jump. The main guy finally arrived and he was kind, he asked our names, made a few jokes.. Time for the jump, we go, it was amazing and scary and all the things you could imagine before launching yourself off a floating platform. We get back, big grins, adrenaline running through us, and now we get to see our videos! (While you are jumping they have someone video taping you from the platform and you have a go pro on your helmet.) At the end they show you your videos and you have the choice to buy 1 for $30USD or 2 for $40USD (Arguably the most expensive videos I'd ever buy in my life but I really wanted the helmet video). Well, everyone had one except me. The go pro on my helmet stopped recording before I jumped. I was pretty sad, this was the once in a lifetime video you'd want to keep and show your friends and family and look back on when you're old and have stories to tell, but the guy showing me the videos actually couldn't care less. He didn't want to find a way to "help" me. And I say "help" because well, they are responsible for the recordings and for such a BIG company, for a video that costs you absolutely 0$ AND you make 100% profit on all of them, they didn't want to at least provide me with the one from the platform. Anywho, I went to go see the manager after who was on the phone, turned away and told someone else to deal with me. When that person went to go talk to him he made a little hand gesture like "shoo" and shook his head "no" - I could see it was all glass in the office. They didn't care. I offered them some advice and said, it was really unfortunate that such a great activity had to turn sour for such a silly little thing, they should consider putting customer before profits, and that they had extremely poor service. So many companies go above and beyond to ensure their customers have great experiences but EXTREMO DID NOT. To put things into perspective, we were a group of 4 collectively spending nearly 1000$ doing activities in one morning. My boyfriend and my friend also bought their videos BTW and they didn't want to throw mine in just to say "sorry for not getting the helmet one, this ones on us" LIKE THATS THE LEAST YOU COULD DO. All that to say, it was extremely cheap of them, like disgustingly cheap and clearly you are only money driven and don't care about your clients. Really unimpressed. Would not recommend.

I'm sorry to the kind employee who greeted us, spoke to us and was actually really nice to us at the front desk, he was the only one that really made us feel welcome. He was great. I would give...

good zip-lining, lots of stairs and no prof. photos. Overall, we liked our experience as family fun (for of 10 to 40 years old) but next time I would try something else... We were recommended to go to this park over Selvatura by our hotel host - he said it is less windy and warmer this time of the year. I think it makes sense since the park is located lower 'down the hill' than Selvatura - you go down from Santa Elena. So it is not really cloud forest experience (if that's what you want).... I'd say 9-10 year old is probably min age for a comfortable experience (considering walking and height of the lines over big open spaces). Our adventurous 10 year old boy loved it but he did feel some trembling before the long rides... Pros: Magnificent views. Few of the lines are cris-crossing over the valley with the amazing views around. Some of the smaller lines are in the forest (not in the clouds though). From the superman platform you can see the ocean far away... Not much wind and overall warmer than the town of St. Elena - I would not want to be in a very windy spot for zip lining... Superman ride - really cool experience of "flying' over the valley! Our kids went with the guide - for extra weight and safety :) Small superman ride in the tunnel - I really enjoyed the surreal feeling of that one. Friendly guides Resident "pet" macaws - they added extra fun and color to our adventure - one of them visited us at the zipline platform, providing wonderful photo opportunity! Cons: filthy gloves - they are seriously ready to be replaced - this is not the only zipline we used and those gloves were the dirtiest and oldest I experienced LOTS of hiking - this is not your usual platform to platform ziplinning - there is quite a lot of uphill hiking involved, and i would say it takes a bit away from the experience. I also wish there was a way to carry water with you - by the end of the tour you get pretty thirsty. Not recommended for someone with knee/walking difficulties. No professional/good quality photo taking - the guides are snapping occasional picture of you here and there on whatever camera they have handy (from gopro to point-and-shoot) but here is no real photo package. Especially sorry that there was no pictures taken of the superman ride (other than a few of our own rushed phone shots). If you want good pictures, check other places. All in all, lovely family experience (which could be made even better by adding things like photo package and...

They robbed me. And someone died here a month ago.

Extremo does not allow you to take your bags into the park, telling you to leave your belongings at the front desk. I did so, assuming my things would be safe with the staff but when I returned from my 3-hour ziplining tour, all my cash ($160 USD) was gone from my backpack. There is no way I could I have lost the money by mistake. It was stolen by their staff.

In addition, it is a widely known but covered up secret in Monteverde that a tourist died on one of the courses at Extremo only a month ago, or a week before I visited Extremo. It is unthinkable to me that they did not shut down the park (only the part of the course where the person died) and immediately resumed business operations.

Nor am I surprised. Extremo invests heavily in marketing but none in safety, lacking safety equipment that is present at their competitor, Sky Adventures. Extremo tells you you need to stop yourself on the zipline, but half the time their staff didn't even give the hand signal to stop. I met at least a few people who said they were confused by the directions and didn't know how to stop themselves, which is so dangerous and a recipe for disaster.

Tourism related deaths and casualties are underreported in Costa Rica, where tourism comprises such a large part of the economy. Do NOT trust Extremo because it is better to be safe than sorry. Extremo advertises that they are the largest ziplining course in Monteverede but at what cost? Robbing and killing you?

If you really do want to zipline, please take your business to Extremo's competitor, Sky Adventures which can promise you 2 things: (1) Automatic safety locks so you don't have to worry about crashing into a tree or flying off the zipline to your death like one tourist did (2) Lockers for your belongings. Extremo will not help you or take accountability after robbing you like...

This was one of the best experiences in Monteverde. We did the whole package, which included zip-lining, superman, tarzan and bungee jumping. It was lit. I had soooo much fun and by the end of it was really tired. Zip-lining, superman and tarzan all are together will take a while to finish (about 3 hours for our group). You go in, check in, leave your bags with the check in desk, get fitted with a harness, gloves and helmet, and are then given instructions. They have those in English and Spanish. There are soo many zip lines at varying heights and length. They even have some double ones, so it is great if you are with a partner. The views are also to die for. The staff really ensures that you are safe the whole time. Be prepared for some short elevation hiking stints as you will have to go to some of the higher lines. The tarzan swing is the one closest to a bungee jump and you should be prepared to have a blast. The bungee jumps only runs at some given schedules. If you are doing zip-lining, you will be asked to go first as you have to come back for bungee jumping. You are given a wrist band based on you height, and will have to go out with people on your category. There are only 3 people at a time allowed so this might also take a while. With all that being said it is a nerve wracking, but yet beautiful experience. I highly suggest you go for it. They have multiple safety mechanisms at play at any time, so you have little to worry about. They take photos and videos, but you have to pay. It is $25 for the zip lining and bungee photos and videos and $10 only for zip lining. You will need cash if you are paying for the bungee jumping photos and videos.

Super disappointed by their service - pickup arrived one hour late, during which they did not answer my calls or let me know whether there is an expected delay. Eventually they sent someone to pick me after successful contact by the manager at the hotel I was staying in. This 1 hour delay lagged into the activities, causing me to miss and eventually cancel a Monteverde night tour I booked in person with a guide and have been really looking forward to. Once finally arriving, I disclosed my plans with the receptionist prior starting the activities, and gave him the number of the other guide so that he can inform him about any delays (while I'd be up there ziplining). Turned out they never contacted him, and a minute before Tarzan jumping I found myself texting the tour guide to cancel an in-person tour an hour in advance! I expressed this situation to Extremo manager, who didn't show much care nor took responsibility. Ridiculously enough, they tried selling me a night tour with their guide instead (at full price!), to which I kindly refused. To summarize my experience with Extremo: the infrastructure is well maintained, but expect zero water sources for 3 hours in the sun (must drink a lot beforehand as water bottles aren't allowed ). The guides are thoughtful and taking great care of the visitors, but honestly I'm horrified by careless management in handling customer incidents: yes, mistakes happen, but not owning mistakes "because there were many visitors today" is disrespectful to your customers. Pura vida.
