Pejačević Castle is located in the center of Našice. It is located in the park, nowadays a city park, along with a small castle and business facilities, and recently built residential buildings and a hotel. The name is carried by the famous Pejačević noble family. The foundation of the original castle was erected by Count Vincenci Pejačević (1780-1820) in the middle of January 1811, and on March 11, Ana in January 1812, the castle was over. This old mansion was built in a classical style and was smaller than today. The castle was rectangular, with nine window openings on the south entrance facade. The central part of the castle, in the width of three windows, was highlighted by larger windows and altan, carved with three arches. It is known that the castle was repaired after the earthquake in May 1817, and significant renovation was at the time of Count Ladislav Pejačević (1824-1901) around 1850. But his appearance was completely changed in the reconstruction that was started in January 1865, which was taken by Count Ferdinand Karlo Rajner (1800-1878). He raised the building so that the north and south facades had thirteen window openings, and side shutters shaped like a dome-like tower. Due to the slope of the terrain, the castle is single-faced on the entrance, and two-story towards the perivoj. A rather modest classicist mansion has been converted into a representative neo-baroque castle with rich architectural enthusiasts. Apart from art, the castle also has a historical significance. It was home to the famous Croatian composer Dora Pejačević, daughter of Croatian theater teacher Teodora Pejačević. During the Second World War, the castle was used by the German army in 1943 to 45, and a German war hospital was located in the basement. The facade and the roof of the castle were damaged during the war. In the second half of the 20th century, the building had a different purpose. Today, Našice Native Museum, library and gallery are...
Read moreIf you really pass next to it, make a stop eventually , but I wouldn't drive even 1 hour for it. They always propose the same kind of events, so it's quite boring. Smart politicians of this town decided to build a very ugly asphalt parking just next the castle, it's awful. And they cutted trees to make this ugly parking... Terrible. You can see this park was wonderful in the past, castle too, but this new team of politicians do their best to ruin it. less and less trees, more and more garbages and asphalt. If Dora would see it, she would definitely get mad to see what they did to this ex treasure. So it was a 5 stars park/castle , that policitians is turning into a 1 star...
Read moreThe castle is beautifully restored, great for a family outing. The castle tour is rather short (so you can squeeze it in even if you are in a hurry), but you can take your time. Permanent exhibition is spread over two floors. There are some salons, a dining room, a library, a music room and a bedroom furnished with period furniture to portray the atmosphere of the 19th century daily life of nobility. I especially recommend taking the time to walk the magnificent gardens on the estate. We are planning to go back just for...
