Zoo Osijek — Attraction in Grad Osijek

Nice zoo even in late autumn, although it was colder, clouder and rainy, we enjoyed it. I'm sure it's beautiful in the spring and when it's sunny. Animals are wonderful, spacious place for animal and interesting. It's a pity that there are no explanations in English on the boards, only the names, and everything else in Croatian. Likewise, some signs are missing, there is no map of the zoo, which would certainly help in the walk. The part with the wolves is great, it looks exactly like their natural habitat. Only some animals had an unpleasant smell, but I believe it's down to the animals. It would be good if there were more trash cans and benches to sit on. We are delighted with the vehicle (you can go inside) at the lions. Lions are beautiful, and so are giraffes. The parking lot is close by, and the ticket price...

The biggest zoo in Croatia by surface, but not in amount of animals it holds. On one hand this is good because most animals have really huge amounts of space for themselves. On the other hand, some animals are hard to observe.

Also, If you go there to take pictures, most cages have dense fence that eliminates any possibility of taking a good photo (or any kind of photo). Also, virtually every glass surface is highly reflective and scratched to the max by reckless people trying to photograph with their phones.

But, if you are not a photographer this is a very nice place to go with your family. Plenty of benches to sit on, you can drink, eat ice cream and there is even playground for kids. For a very low price this is...

Nice place but somewhat we left with mixed feelings... We understand that to run a zoo is very expensive and the local stuff is really trying but the living conditions for the animals could and should be improved. The price to visit the zoo is really cheap, therefore if in Osijek go there and support the zoo... It's really nice and calming place next to the river Drava and there is also a public beach nearby where you can swim and relax in the sun...
