Pansion Strossmayer — Hotel in Grad Osijek

Our visit started off great, we were met by great receptionist who offered us welcome drinks, took our details and escorted us to our rooms. We were led outside of the main building, just across the parking lot. Both of the rooms were at the street level with large windows without blinds. You could easily see inside the bathroom as the curtain couldn't cover the entire window. Floor was carpeted but it was so uneven that I am not sure what kind of surface was underneath. Both of the bedside lamps were broken/did not work. There was terrible stench in the bathroom. The same goes for the other room, apart that my friend got stuck inside as she couldn't open the door. The entry to private parking is extremly narrow, the rooms smell bad, the bathroom even worse and they try to mask the smell with numerous air fresheners. There is no heating in the bathroom, the massage shower is in a really bad shape, smells bad and is not really clean. The towels smell bad. There was a hole in the wall in the room and the walls are dirty. There was dust all over the desk and the lamp. The view was of the next door roof. The breakfast restaurant is damp and since it was raining there was rain dripping through the glass roof. The breakfast was very poor and not tasty. Coffee was terrible and there was no water served just poor quality...

I was already in email contact with the front desk before arriving and they were most helpful. (It was the time of the frontier closure). I was made to feel really welcome. Good sized solid room small bathroom with rather narrow but effective shower. Room 5 looks out over Strosssmayer street so there was some noise from the early morning trams.||Excellent breakfast with eggs and coffee made to order.||About 100 meters towards the square is a real gem of a traditional ice cream parlour called Peter Pan. I can not see it listed elsewhere but it deserves to be. One of the best ice-creams I have had for years and buzzing...
