With all our good expectations we did a self-organised tour today to a few winery’s in Hvar. The day started with high expectations at “Vinarija Braca Plancic”.
The setting of the winetasting was cute, but within a few minutes after the tasting started, our expectations burned into the ground quickly. The woman who explained the wine told us only what kind of graphes were in the wine and the volume of alcohol. There was no background information given at all and there was absolute no attention for us as young couple (with a big passion for wine). She didn’t even asked how the wine was. The table next to us got the whole attention, which they deserve, but we were sitting like: “we’re still here, madam”
The wines itselves were great. The taste was good and the food too. But we have to say, the glass we were sipping was a bit dirty. Luckily, it didn’t change the taste of the wine. When she poured our last glass we found a few pieces of cork inside the wine. After mention it, she gave us the story we have to put it out with our own fingers. In our winepassioners opinion a quit interesting theory.
The last phase of our winetasting was terrible too. She walked outside and stayed there until we asked the bill. We didn’t get the chance to buy any bottle of the house. I have to say: I really don’t know what kind of house of wine it was, so why did buying wine cross my mind?
Overal, in our opinion definitely no recommendation to anyone. With a big heart for wine it hurts to say this.
I hope others will have or had a good experience with the house. We...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting a local vineyard Plancic and it was an exquisite experience. From the moment I stepped onto the lush grounds, I was greeted by rows upon rows of thriving grapevines, each a testament to the care and dedication of the vintners. The guided tour provided fascinating insights into the winemaking process, from cultivation to bottling.
Sampling the wines was a highlight, as the tasting room offered a delightful array of reds, whites, and rosés, each with its unique flavor profile and character. The guide Magdalena shown amazing expertise as she guided us through the tasting, describing the nuances and intricacies of each wine.
The ambiance was nothing short of charming, with the rustic yet elegant architecture blending seamlessly into the natural surroundings. It was a pleasure to stroll through the vineyard, basking in the serenity and breathtaking views.
In summary, my visit to the vineyard was an enchanting journey into the world of winemaking. The combination of stunning scenery, exceptional wines, and knowledgeable Magdalena made for a truly memorable experience that I would highly recommend to any wine enthusiast or...
Read moreOn a free afternoon we organised a winery tour of Hvar, so we had no idea what to expect. We got driven across the island, past Stari Grad and through to the village of Vrbanj. The Braca Plancic winery doesn't look like much from the outside, the magic however is within. The large rustic table in the tasting area is nestled amongst the wine making machinery, vats and bottling area.
Our host, Marijo, one of three brothers who run the family winery, was a most gracious host, who walked us through the seven wines that they produce, explaining the differences as to where the grapes are grown and how they result in completely different varieties of wine. Our wine tasting was paired with a platter of local cheeses, homemade bread, the family's olive oil and olives. We could have listened to Marijo's story about his family and their love of wine all afternoon.
We never felt under any pressure to buy any of their wines, and if we weren't travelling the next day we probably would have bought more. We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting experience and would recommend anyone visiting Hvar make the journey to this...
