The 3 stars are only reflecting the difficulty in getting to this area of the island. The beach area in Ivan Dolac is beautiful but note that to get here or to visit Sveta Nedjelja you can only do so by car unless you are the most ardent of trekkers and like a challenge then you have no option but to traverse the 7 km up and around the mountain as the Pitve tunnel is only suitable for cars and small vans. If you plan to bike it, and the journey from Jelsa to Pitve town by bike is absolutely beautiful be warned that the surface of the macadam road on which you have to travel to circumvent the tunnel is composed of rubble and loose rock, I am not even sure an MTB could manage it, I had to walk with my mountain bike, 7 km extra, about 2.5 HR, so I would not recommend this as a cycle route to the other side of the island. However, as an alternative route, it is possible to cycle from Jelsa, Starigrad etc to Hvar town, the road surface is very good, the views superb and the 400m climb worth it!!! Again, bikes cannot use this other tunnel but at least the old road is in a good condition. Ivan Dolac itself is a small town composed mainly of apartments. There's not much else here except for the beach. There are 2 main restaurants and a small store for groceries. There is a nice fresh bakery and a lovely little snack bar by the name...
Read moreGood pebble beach for families with children, not so much for couples. Remember to bring your beach shoes, it's difficult to walk on the beach. The water is clean and easy to swim in- you get to deep waters quite quickly, no need to walk for minutes. You can get some shade at the cafe (beer, cocktails, coffee) together with some stunning vier over the sea. The fast food near by sells grilled chicken, salads and burgers, icecream. There's also a restaurant on the beach, not open for lunch when we were there. You must carry cash, though, as the nearest ATM machine is in the next town. There's a parking lot nearby (7 HRK per hour/ 30 HRK per day). A 10 minute walk can take you to the FKK beach to the left side, a...
Aí, a coisa fica feia!
