DUBoak - Maritime Heritage Interpretation Centre — Attraction in Općina Malinska-Dubašnica

This museum was an absolute delight. Many times I find that museums cover too much ground, such that eventually burnout sets in and you can’t approach new, beautiful things with the same freshness. This is not the case of DUBoak. This is an extremely authentic expression of the heritage of a people and their livelihoods, allowing you to step into their world, triumph, and struggle. DUBoak shares the history of a people completely unbeknownst to me prior, and thanks to them and their extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff (Alen), I was intrigued and immersed.

If you're interested in cultural history of Malinska, you shouldn't miss this place. The museum is not big but the architecture is modern and beautiful, fits perfectly into the environment. The roof hides a garden with herbs and a beautiful view. The museum is interactive and focused on local traditinal boatbuilding. It even offers ineresting workshops and events. People that work in Duboak are very helpful and enthusiastic, feel free to ask them anything. The gift shop with local products is amazing, make sure you taste at least local olive oil. Brilliant little, modern interactive museum for those interested in Adriatic maritime heretage. It focuses on local traditinal boatbuilding and vessel evolution, putting it in context with local history and local economic development too. The staff is very well informed, enthusiastic and helpful. Kids will find fun stuff to play with too. Worth checking ahead for workshops and events as there are always some.
