We stayed @ this resort for 1 week at the end of July 2019 and found the reviews/experiences of other guests similar to ours! Overall very happy, would recommend. POOL -Big, no deeper than 4.5 feet (estimate) -very clean -Beach house always had fresh towels to exchange (during open hours) -lots of lounge chairs. The ones in the shade closest to the pool were occupied first. But more shaded areas available further back -volleyball net always up. Scheduled game times if you wanted to play with a bigger group -music always playing -Almost all scheduled resort activities took place in or in front of the pool (aqua fitness, tai chi, dance/drink competitions, “disco” @ night) -public washroom & outdoor showers very close by BEACH -Absolutely gorgeous, the main reason why we chose Varadero! -Stunning white sand, very minimal seaweed washed onshore (only on 1 windy day) -kept very clean -tons of lounge chairs available & hut/umbrellas for shade -a few cabanas available for rent. (Not sure how much) -beach bar. Only cocktails available, no beer -volleyball net -scuba diving INDOOR BARS (Piano bar/downstairs) -Very hardworking staff -Cocktails were very strong & sugary -no mohitos the whole week we were there (they had run out of mint) -live music almost every night at one or both bars -downstairs bar fills up @ night, so get a table before it gets busy if you want one DINING HALL (Breakfast/Dinner) -indoors, very large -go as soon as it opens if you want a more chill environment. At peak times it gets super busy -Very hardworking, king staff -kept extremely clean, no bugs. But some flies FOOD IN GENERAL: For Cuban food, this resort was pretty good. Some dishes were more flavourful than others (Shrimp/fish) some were lacking (beef). They didn’t have anything catered to gluten free diets. WATER: -The fridge is restocked once a day with 2L of bottled water -can purchase bottled water for 2 CUC @ store in hotel -Everyone was drinking the tap water @ dinner (bottled water not served) so we did too -only 1 out of the 4 of us got stomach sick for a day or two but it could have been from the food -Hotel guests were not worried about the water at all BREAKFAST FOOD: If you eat healthier this is not the best meal for options -Chefs made fresh eggs/omelettes, pancakes & crepes -Tons of fresh fruit: mango, watermelon, papaya, pineapple, passion fruit -Assorted meat & cheese platters -different cereals & milk -bacon (not flavourful) TONS of unhealthier food options: -deep fried breakfast foods, different kinds of bread, deserts (cakes, jello, cookies etc) LUNCH (Poolside dining) THE BEST meal for variety/flavour. -Rice, beans, beef, chicken, lamb, cauliflower, potatoes, pasta salad, fruit, avocado -Pasta bar (not super flavourful) -cucumber & lettus were pretty much the only raw vegetables -deserts DINNER -Very similar to lunch 24 HOUR SNACK BAR -hard time finding it since it’s not in the hotel. -Just before you hit the beach it’s located with the 24h bar -they served chicken & cheese sandwiches and some fruit (did not try sandwiches) -between meals there were also 2 other snack bars open during the day by the pool -1st served fresh cut fruit & smoothies -2nd served burgers & French fries (both not very flavourful) WIFI -1 CUC/ hour -purchased @ reception where they give you a card with code -wifi only works in the lobby. It is extremely slow -works best right outside the piano bar -ONLY APP that worked for us the whole time was Facebook messenger ROOMS: -Rooms were cleaned very well & fridge restocked every day (2 beer, 2 cola, 1 2L filtered water). Lots of fresh towels -No bugs in the room or food -great air conditioning -Very spacious bathroom. Good lighting, great water pressure -Working Safe -2 double beds were hard/could feel springs -queen bed was hard but couldn’t feel springs -pillows were average -Could Hear loud entertainment @ night starting @8pm -Loud chirping birds in the morning

First time in Cuba for a week . It is great hotel with a lot of plants, palms and flowers inside and outside. Great facilities. There is good size swimming pool and outside cafe next to it, 2 restaurants, bar and shops for souvenirs, rum, cigars and tourist staff BEACH - secured & safety, white sand beach, very beautiful and clean, plenty of umbrellas and sun beds , there is small bar with limited choice of drinks in 200ml plastic cups. ROOM - decent size with balcony, EU plugs, old fashioned but clean, flat TV with some channels, small fridge with 1.5 water, 2 cans Holland’s beer and 2 small bottles of Cuban cola. My room was with garden view but it is most likely highway view and was very noisy from the buses who pick up the staff in the morning. INTERNET - they give you 10 h and when you finished it they will give you another 10h. When you stop using it for more than 2 min, it is log you out and you have to log in again: 20 symbols for network and 8 symbols for password. The signal is poor, mostly I used is in my room or the bar CURRENCY - everything is calculated in Dollars, but you can use any currency like euros or pounds also. You can not exchange unspent Cuban pesos and you can not use in airport. STAFF - some people are very friendly and helpful, some are not. They do better service to local and expecting some tips from tourists. EXCURSIONS - book it in advance online and get some discounts, I recommend full day trip to Havana. FOOD - it was awful, no taste, very poor quality and not big variety for all inclusive resort. Always have to wait on queue 15-20 min for the grill because the meat is not cooked, they give you 3 pieces of meat, if you ask for more they will give you 1 more, you have to begging for the food which you already paid. The Masks are still required, it is post covid hotel. DRINKS - mostly plastic cups smaller than the glass for water, fizzy drinks are poured from 1.5l bottles, juice is something like mashed fruits with water without sugar. No sugar & limes in mojito, no lemon in Cuba libre. Alcohol is unknown brand except the rum. In the bar, there is small size mosquito, who bites a lot. This holiday I felt like person in boarding house with daily portions of food and drinks. For me the food is very important when you are in all inclusive resort and paid decent amount of money. Very disappointed and very bad experience. I do not recommend Cuba, better go to Mexico or Dominican Republic.

I’ve been recently to this hotel and would said to AVOID going there especially if you are a person who want to enjoy the FOOD AND DRINKS during your holiday and to receive for what you was paying!!!This hotel is overpriced !!! The food is terrible and disgusting 🤮🤮🤮I’m not talking about the “Cuban” food, I’m talking about the very, very poor quality of all products used to feed the guests there…THERE ISN’T ANY VARIETY OF FOOD AT ALL!!!Being pregnant during my stay was a real nightmare- the only edible thing for breakfast was fried eggs and bread🙄The rest of my meals there were undercooked poor quality rise and type of beef, which was very hard for chewing… I wasn’t eating any salads, fruits or any desserts at all - imagine paying for all inclusive and not received a food and proper drinks at all !!! The only juice in the restaurant is in my pictures🤮🤮🤮The water in the restaurant not sure from where was coming, but it was in jugs, not in the bottles - I always had my own bottle of water with me. ( by the way in the room the maid will give you only 1 bottle of water which is 1,5 litres for 2 people imagine 🙄. I had to ask every day for more bottles!!!)There wasn’t any fresh bananas, tomatoes, lettuce at all !!! The taste of the fruits was horrible- as I mentioned very poor quality!!! I felt I was begging for food when I was waiting on the grill to receive a peace of that old and very hard for chewing beef, as the cooks there they didn’t give you enough as you want - you need to ask( begging) them to give you more food as it’s not enough for you !!! Never felt that way on a holiday 😢I was wake up very early to be first for breakfast, the same for lunch and dinner, otherwise you need to queuing half an hour to receive a food !!! The only good think in this hotel was the local music band-they were playing almost every day!!!However this hotel have great facilities- pool, restaurants, beach, but I would NEVER EVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!

We just returned home after spending a great week at the Blau Veradero. I’ve read a couple of the other reviews on here and frankly am not sure they reviewed the same place . The staff was great. They were very friendly and genuine They do the best they can with the tools they are given. The rooms were clean, the AC worked with no problems, their was never a shortage of warm water for showering, and when we did have an issue with the toilet that needed to be addressed the maintenance was prompt. The check-in was smooth and hassle free. Elevators worked (although they were quite busy at times) but we have two legs and theirs stairs so a little exercise never hurts. The beach is outstanding!!!! The food was what we expected. It’s a buffet so there will be foods your will enjoy and some things you won’t. Be adventurous and try something new… you might be pleasantly surprised! There is an international and an Italian Al a carte restaurant. Food was good and there were different options. Again, keep your expectations reasonable and you won’t be disappointed. If you are on a gf diet, just make sure you are talking to the staff (I spoke with the food and beverage manager) ahead of time to get some help on what is an option for you (they don’t have access to gf flours or breads and that’s ok). There are lots of challenges with the supply chain in Cuba so keep that in mind and you won’t be disappointed. We took packets of ketchup, jams, peanut butter and hot sauce (again, they do have supply problems and don’t have access to the same condiments you might expect in North America). Finally as mentioned earlier the staff was great. They were always genuinely friendly, welcoming and happy; however, there was one that did go that extra mile to make my wife and I feel welcome. Her name is Cretel. She would greet my wife every morning with a cheery wave and hug before insisting we sit in her area!!! Thanks Blau Veradero!!!

This is my second time in Cuba. Given the circumstances of Cuba I came with low expectations and just wanted to enjoy the warm weather and beach. I came thinking I wasn’t going to be eating a lot, I brought snacks just in case, I honestly thought I was gonna lose 5 pounds on this trip. My first day I walk in, and I’m amazed by the unique lobby of hanging plants- it was beautiful. they had water stations everywhere with mint or pineapple or other fruit infused water.. check in wasn’t until four, which was fine because we enjoyed the outdoor lunch buffet. We walked around the lobby, got to know the place and I was amazed by how clean everything was and how nice the staff was. Miguel was nice enough to give us a full resort tour. The staff were very helpful. We met Rosa, who booked our tour to Havana with so much ease and last minute as well as the catamaran cruise. The central bar had entertainers every night and the entertainers encouraged you to enjoy the salsa dancing, and my fiancé even learned how to dance salsa and bachata by the end of first day. Every day, our house keeper left the room sparkling clean. Everything about the room was simple, humble, but most importantly clean and comfortable. All the restaurants are very clean even cleaner than the resorts I’ve been to in Mexico. I thought I wasn’t gonna enjoy the food- I was full every meal of the day. Their local food is the best- rice, beans, vegetables, the meats were so tender. The bread was warm, and the butter was very available. They’ve done well with what they had. I believe I gained 10 pounds after this trip. I truly enjoyed this humble place the staff were friendly and insured we enjoyed our stay whether it was relaxing on the beach or dancing every night. The service was very fast- ie bar service, coffee cafe.. We were blown away by how talented the people were- live bands, orchestra, multilingual, dancing, and more!

I ordered the sunwing package. When I arrived at the hotel, it was more than one o 'clock in the morning because of the flight delay, and the hotel only had cold sandwiches to eat. The hotel elevator was very unstable, and the next day I got stuck in it, between the third and fourth floors, and I haven't taken that side of the elevator since. I think what made me most disappointed and angry was a female employee in the lobby bar, whose name I didn't know. I told her twice that I needed a drink, but she ignored me. I don't know for what reason, a couple came to share a table with us, the waiter asked them enthusiastically what they needed to drink, continued to ignore me, smiled at others, ignored me and my boyfriend, and I felt uncomfortable and racist? I ended up going to the front desk and getting a drink. It wasn't about the tip. She didn't respect me and I couldn't give her a tip. She didn't deserve it. On the last day before I left the hotel, I met this waitress again, who worked at the bar on the beach, and her attitude was still bad as I walked over. It gave me a bad impression of the hotel. However, the front desk of the hotel and the man at the entrance of the lobby were very friendly. He helped us get a car to varadero city and a car to habana. He was very enthusiastic and served us well. I also particularly liked the coffee bar of this hotel, where the two male staff members who work in the afternoon are very nice and the coffee they make is very good. I really enjoyed it. I have to say that the network of the hotel is very poor, and it needs to be refreshed every ten hours. When my phone locks the screen, the network will be cut off, so I need to enter the account number and password to re-connect. I cannot carry the password paper with me at any time, so I can only memorize the account number and password.
