Petros Nikolaou Basketry Workshop & Museum — Attraction in Choirokoitia

I had the pleasure of visiting the hidden gem, a basketry workshop and museum in Cyprus, and it was truly one of the best experiences during our trip. Despite being somewhat hard to reach, it's a place that's well worth the effort. The museum itself consists of two small rooms filled with fascinating artifacts and crafts.

But what made our visit even more memorable was the traditional Cypriot lunch we enjoyed there. The food was exceptional, offering some of the best traditional dishes we tasted in Cyprus. The owner, who spoke excellent English, was incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall charm of the place.

I highly recommend this unique museum and workshop to anyone visiting Cyprus. It's a hidden treasure that combines cultural exploration with delicious food and warm hospitality – a must-visit...

I absolutely loved our visit to Nikolaou's workshop. The basketry is really beautiful, but there is so much more. Nikolaou is a force of nature. He and his colleagues, quietly and without fuss create a world of excellence - the entrance way shines like a jewel, there are flowers, and a bower shaded by a vine in the traditional style.. Nicolaou explained to us how halloumi is made and like a magician prepared it for us in front of our very eyes. This is how halloumi should be, not the rubbery over-salted product to be found in so many supermarkets. This was the sheep's milk tenderly transformed by a craftsman into something really delicious. Thank you Nicolaou, and all of you for your charm and courtesy our visit was really a highlight. Will hope to come...

If you’re looking for an authentic, Cypriot traditional experience, I highly recommend this place! The most fresh halloumi I have ever tried, and a great and warm environment. We recently went to the brunch on Sunday and the buffet brunch is a mixture of really yummy, traditional meats, cheese, eggs, and so much more. The space is filled with Mr. Petros Basketry handmade works that are for sale! I bought a medium size bowl and two mats that I am really looking forward to add to my new kitchen. Next time I go, I’m definitely getting one of those gorgeous...
