Great trail but... it's a challenge. Especially near the beach end of the trail. Loose dusty rock, narrow trail, cliff edge, steep. Good shoes are essential. On the 1km part of the trail, no benches, few horizontal places to 'lunch' and what places are in the sea wind. Nearly zero trash on the trail, nice. Some plants are thorny, beware. Flowers are pretty, views are amazing, silence, wind, rawness of nature, only good stuff. Make us humans seem soft, weak, temporary, and small...the whole point of hiking perhaps.
The trail is well marked with painted red arrows, so hard to get lost (in daylight). It winds around, some Ys that need to be scrutinized though. Trail is very visible (from high), calming. The trail seems one-way in and out, not so good. Experts surely know alternates.
The other end of the 4.5km trail is the small tourist hill-town of PIssouri. Not much there but pubs, restaurants and cats, and a decent public signed WC.
Parking for trail is tricky, at either end. Road-side rough lots, curb, whatever you can. Parking the town is also daunting, no space. Nothing official. The sign at trail end is...
Read moreA very beautiful hiking trail. Starting point Pissouri Pine Bay. The first part of the hike is easy to moderate. Also suitable for families. The second part of the trail very is steep, rocky and rather challenging. That's probably why the hike is officially classified as difficult. The trails from the second part are poorly signed so somethings it was very hard to see where to go next. The view of the entire hike is breathtaking. If you are lucky you can meet wild running horses or goats. The destination is Dog Beach. A beautiful stone beach. The whole hike one way takes about 1:40 minutes. Overall definitely worth doing if you like hiking with...
Read moreNice place for autumn, winter ( a rainy 26 December for us) and the spring. If you only follow the trail to the plateau and enjoy it there or take the full trip to the sea it is a great walk. There is a farm nearby, with horses and goats, you should see them when you pass in the start of the trail.. the goats leave trails all the way to the sea. If you want to go to the sea, follow the road on the right where the plateau starts, and when you meet a bench pointing north at the end, you should also walk to the right to find the trail that will lead you to the sea. 10 km walk, 3 hours lazy trip (for us) and 300 elevation...
