Arboretum Bukovina — Attraction in okres Semily

(short English review below) Arboretum mezi lesy s méně viditelnou (a ano, trochu zarostlou, ale pořád něco nabízející) vyhlídkou na skály směrem na sever, podobné ostatním vyhlídkám jako U Lvíčka, ale zas z trochu jiného úhlu. Je to informační centrum CHKO se suvenýry a poblíž malé bistro v penzionu. Park mi nic moc neříkal, ale mnohé stromy mají cedulky s názvem. Je to přímo na cestě, takže odbočku na vyhlídku bych doporučil.

It has nice viewpoint (similar to others on the touristic way from castle Hrubá Skála to the castle Valdštejn), otherwise there is nothing spectacular, simply a park in the middle of a forest, but the trees have names (not sure if only Czech, or also latin), there is small souvenir info shop related to the nature reservation. But it is practically no extra way to go to check the view on the rocks, so why not...

Arboretum bylo založeno v letech 1860 – 1862 majitelem hruboskalského panství Janem Bedřichem Lexou z Aehrenthalu (1817 – 1898) zásluhou lesníka Leopolda Angera staršího (1837 - 1915). Jde o jednu z nejstarších pokusných ploch zaměřených na zavádění cizích dřevin na naše území. Roste jich tu 41 druhů, z toho 35 nepůvodních. V arboretu se na ploše 2,73 ha nachází celkem 400 chráněných památných stromů.

The arboretum was founded in 1860 - 1862 by the owner of the Hruboskalsko estate Jan Bedřich Lexa of Aehrenthal (1817 - 1898) thanks to the forester Leopold Anger the Elder (1837 - 1915). It is one of the oldest experimental plots focused on introducing foreign trees into our territory. There are 41 species, 35 of them non-native. A wonderful little nugget of nature in the Czech Paradise area. Some great little carved tree stumps and plenty of things to encourage wildlife to the spot.
