Wallachian Open Air Museum — Attraction in okres Vsetín

Wallachian Open Air Musuem is great museum and it is worth a whole day trip. It consists of four main exhibitions. Three of them are in Roznov pod Radhostem: Open Air Museum, Wallachian Village and Open Air Musuem Mill Valley. The fourth one is the hill top called Pustevny. Open Air Musuem Mill Valley is only accessible as guided tour and it is definitely worth it! In Open Air Museum there are also guided tours. Family ticket into all three exhibitions in Roznov pod Radhostem costed me 400 Kc and that also included those guide tours. Not many people might know but there is a path from Wallachian Village to Jurkovicova tower which is not part of the museum ticket but it is only 5 -10 minutes walk and after paying small entrance fee you will be rewarded with great views of the town and its surroundings and then you can return back to the...

Wallachian Open Air Museum is one of the best Open-Air Museum I have ever seen, and I visited quite a lot of them (in Slovakia, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand etc.) The museum consists of three parts - Little Wooden Town, Water Mill Valley, and the Wallachian Village. Little Wooden Town is the oldest part of the Wallachian Open Air Museum a probably most attractive. It shows visitors the appearance of a historical square formed of a group of original wooden buildings relocated largely from the Rožnov pod Radhoštěm and the Wallachian region. Several timbered buildings were built here as replicas of existing buildings and buildings that are no longer exist. We were amazed by a historical place that we visited, which showcased a lot about the old Wlachia country. We were impressed with how the Czech tourism organization had tried to preserve the authenticity of the place, and we felt that they had succeeded in doing so. The visit took place in winter, and the snow added to the beauty of the surroundings.
