♿ Entrance = Yes (hard to reach if you have big wheelchair), there is an alternative entry. Ask the employee. ♿ Parking = Yes ♿ Building = Yes ♿ Elevator = 1 small one and (1 medium / long size, ask employee)
This is certainly a good place to visit if you are going to esbjerg. There's an elevator outside for bad walkers or wheelchair users however it's a small and tight elevator so if you have a big wheelchair you may not be able to go inside. You will have to ask the employees at the counter for an alternative entry which is going through the side of the building. You will go through the back area and eventually bypass some seal fish tanks. There's a bigger elevator nearby the tanks.(You should leave this way too and may need to ask the employees to open the door) You will be going through the souvenir shop to enter the museum. They can speak English.
Once inside you will have different rooms to explore and there's an outside too. They are displaying all kinds of fishes with their own history. There are old ships, machines and designs. They also have an upstairs and an elevator to from what I believe is a restaurant or something to eat. Access to the restaurant may not be wheelchair friendly but everything else in the museum can be accessed easily with little to no problems. There is enough space to turn around or walk some bigger than others. You will be enjoying your time for about 2 hours but you will enjoy every...
Read moreThis museum is a small one, which doesn't costs that much. The time you need to see all of the exhibits is maximum 3 hours.
You have different indoor and two outdoor areas where you can see for example the diffrent offshore oil-platforms, aquariums (these are like a smaller version of "Sealife"-Museum) and so on. Most of the descriptions of the exhibits are written in danish, german and english.
The outdoor area offers an old and little fishing vessels where you can go in. It looks very intressting inside. You get a feeling of how it is to life on a vessel. At the area you can see many other things of shipment and there is also a playground for kids.
The Second outdoor Area has a fish basin with seals and some birds. Twice a day there is feeding and three of the employees are talking about the seals in the basin while feeding and playing with the seals. I recommend it, if the outdoor temperature isn't that low ( -5°C)
Duration: 30 min Languages: danish and english
If you want to have a meal, there is also a canteen where can have some normal dishes. On my opinion it is a little bit expansiv, because they aren't offering that much nor something special.
To put it in a nutshell, there are some areas where you can get a short impression of the the diffrent topics. While feeding the seals you get some intressting information about them in danish and english. If you want to eat i recommand to go to...
Read moreThis museum is fun for all ages. There's a lot to see. I especially liked seeing the seals get fed and that you could get to actually pet some of the fish. There's also some very interesting exhibitions both inside and outside (but there could have been more information on the signs) and a huge, amazing playground for the kids! There's handicap access and handicap toilets. There are many regular toilets and they were clean and nice. The museum shop had a lot of stuff for the children and many books and aesthetic postcards and posters. There's a restaurant, kiosk and you can eat your own lunch outside by the playground. The admission fee was very fair for the amount there was to see. Very worth a visit! We spent about 4 hours experiencing it all and we were 2 adults and 3 young adults. (All information is available in Danish, English and German and most of the staff spoke all 3...
