This is by far the BEST museum to go to Odense, perhaps in all of Denmark (although it is hard to compare the Bunker Museum to Rosenberg Palace where the crown jewels are, to Egeskov castle just south of Odense). It was in the top 3 of my family's favorite stops on our 2 week trip to Europe. I was expecting about 45 minutes and a quick look around, but our family ended up spending 2 hours. The only reason we left was because we still wanted to go to the Hans Christian Anderson museum. In all honesty, skip the HCAM and spend more time at the Bunker museum.
The staff was super friendly, knowledgeable about the museum pieces, and willing to share stories. We learned so much history that I never would have expected, particularly about the cold war from a Danish perspective (nuances as an American that never occurred to me). We happened to be there on the 10th anniversary so admission was free (but I was planning on paying anyway). The admission price is worth it ten times over. They even let us share in their "birthday" cake, a Danish treat we weren't expecting.

Read moreMake sure to add this museum to your list if you visit Odense! My partner and I had a lovely visit of the Bunker Museum where we not only learnt a lot about the need and functionality of this structure, but also had very pleasant talks with the volunteers working there. Big shout out to Alex and Peter for the nice conversations! While most of the signs in the museum are in Danish, we got all the necessary information from the staff in English. The place is well maintained and you can clearly see that everyone involved in setting up the exhibition is passionate about bunkers and the topics around the Cold War and geopolitics. Don’t think that the museum is too far from the center, a nice walk through the quiet southern neighbourhood (approx. 30 min from central Odense) will bring you to the bunker. Renting a bike or taking a bus (for part of the distance) is also an option. Thank you for the...
Read moreAn amazing experience! It is truly sad that the museum is not as known as it should be one of the must see places in Odense. It is driven by volunteers who are knowledgeable, entertaining story tellers with a great sense of humour! For only 50 kr you will get a 2 hour (!) tour into the past and get insights about the Danish history.
I could see how much the people care about what they do, and it inspired me greatly ❤
The tour is in Danish, but the guides can still give a brief introduction in English, and the suitcase gun will give you a feeling of being in a James...
