The Round Gardens of Nærum: The Naerum suburban district of Copenhagen in Denmark, is the setting for one of the most visually appealing allotment gardens in the world. Søren Carl Theodor Marius Sørensen is considered one of the greatest landscape architects to have ever lived, and the Oval Gardens of Naerum are one of his most famous projects. In 1948, 40 oval allotment gardens, each measuring approximately 25x 15 m, were laid out on a rolling lawn, between public housing on one side and more traditional allotments on the other. Owners were free to position their cottages, select the surrounding hedges, and lay out the interior of their plots, but Sørensen provided some directions, stressing that they were meant as a guide, not rules. Alle haverne i De Runde Haver er elipseformede. En elipse kan du tegne med en snor og to tegnestifter. Sæt tegnestifterne med en afstand på 5 og fastgør snoren, der skal være 6 lang, til hver tegnestift. Med en blyant spænder du snoren ud i en trekant og tegner så elipsen ved at køre rundt 360 grader. Min svigerdatters familie har holdt til der i mange år, og i lørdags inviterede de til familiekomsammen. 3 generationer fra Vestjylland, Vendsyssel, Berlin og København. Københavnerne havde det ikke nemt, men det var jo dem, der repræsenterede De Runde Haver. Og Fælleshuset er smukt, stråtækt og fint istandsat. Ventelisten er vist lang, men det er ventetiden værd.
