Overall Experience: My stay at this hotel was generally good, though it’s more basic compared to its sister chain, Dreams. While I might stay here again if the price is right, I would only do so because of the excellent staff. My overall rating is 3 out of 5, which is generous and largely due to the standout employees mentioned below. Negatives: Dietary Concerns: If you have allergies, religious dietary restrictions (especially regarding pork), or follow a vegetarian/vegan diet, this hotel may not be the best choice. There were frequent mix-ups with food, particularly at the morning egg station and the pizza station. Despite informing staff (in Spanish, which I had to learn), my vegetarian requests were often overlooked. While this wasn’t life-threatening for me, it could be for someone with severe allergies. The self-serve counters also lacked sufficient serving utensils, leading to cross-contamination. Food labelling was another issue—what was labelled as a “Cheese Quesadilla” turned out to be a “Cheese and Ham Quesadilla.” If you need precise control over your food, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. Room Issues: Our arrival was marred by a mix-up with our rooms, likely due to a combination of the Microsoft computer issues and heavy rainfall in La Romana, which had left several rooms unusable due to flooding. After nearly 20 hours of travel, we had to wait three hours for the first room and another two hours for the second. This wasn’t an isolated incident; other guests faced similar delays. The second room we received was a temporary one, and it was clear that water had entered this ground-floor room. While the rooms are generally spacious and of good quality, they do require maintenance—shower and toilet doors need adjusting, and patio doors don’t close securely, which could be a concern for security-minded guests, especially on the ground floor. Sunbed Shortage: Sunbeds by the beach or pool are claimed by 8 AM, and those with shade are taken even earlier, by 7 AM. The situation is so bad that people reserve beds as early as 7:30 AM, yet often don’t use them until much later. This is a widespread issue, but it’s worth noting that the neighbouring Dreams hotel always had plenty of available beds. Sunscape could greatly improve the guest experience by providing more sunbeds and shade. Dining Experience: The buffet can be chaotic, with high pressure to turn tables quickly. If you’re not among the first to arrive, you’ll likely have to search for a table, wait for it to be cleaned, and then find someone to bring you cutlery and drinks before you can even begin to serve yourself. After two weeks, the food at the buffet became monotonous, so we opted for the specialty restaurants in the evenings. The pool could also benefit from more frequent cleaning. Beach Condition: The beach has rocks, particularly in the water, which can be hard to see. I wore water shoes to avoid injury, but this is a natural issue and not the hotel’s fault. Positives: Specialty Restaurants: The specialty restaurants don’t suffer from the cross-contamination issues - but get there 6:30/7 PM The Animation Team works incredibly hard to entertain guests. Special mention goes to La Maquina and Black Angel “Ai Ai Ai – Catastrophic,” Carlos B at the front desk. Yonheidy at Chopsticks, Cesar at Tiki Taco. Yonathan and Alexandro at the swim-up bar were great, and the lifeguard near the pier and the security guard on the beach, their kindness didn’t go unnoticed. Hotel, room and Grounds, are clean, and the large gardens are well-maintained. Conclusion: While this hotel has its challenges, especially regarding food safety and some logistical issues, the excellent staff and pleasant surroundings make it a place I might return to under the right circumstances. However, those with strict dietary needs or a preference for seamless service might want to consider other options.

My experience in the sunscape was overall okay, we had great times but as a woman walking through the hotel alone many many workers cat called or whistled and one of them from the animation team even “miaowed” at me which made me feel kinda uncomfortable. On the other hand there’s great workers like eduardo from the bar, anibelis from the sunclub pool bar and Wonder that served us in the mexican restaurant. Isaiah ( if i remember his name correctly ) from the italian restaurant was also super lovely. I should also mention that the sunclub reception girls were super cute aswell and always ready to help. On the other hand there’s regular reception wasn’t as nice if i’m being honest. Also when u check in you have to sign a paper which states that you cannot hang up your clothes on the balcony or play music on a speaker and many more rules that i found a little unnecessary as everyone did it anyway. The swim up pool bar is a story by itself. Waited up to 20 min sometimes just to get served felt like the people were ignoring us on purpose sometimes. Not sure but was strange. The scuba caribe that books trips for you was also very convenient. I have to mention Genesis as she was always very friendly and gave us the best options to make sure we are enjoying our stay. Even changed dates of one of our trips cause the weather wasn’t nice. Always a big smile on her face makes you feel lovely when u see her. Thank you genesis. Now to the hotel itself. It is actually gorgeous, to the people writing reviews saying it’s old or needs upgrading i don’t understand as in my opinion the hotel is very new and very very beautiful. The gardens and little ponds with fishes and turtles are exceptional. Also please feed the ducks for me, they are so lovely and will eat out of your hands. I miss them already. Would i come back? Yes, minor things to change but regardless i had beautiful vacation.

My stay at Sunscape in the Dominican Republic was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I was expecting a relaxing vacation, but what I got was a series of awful experiences that made me wish I had never booked this place. First and foremost, the food was dreadful. The quality was extremely poor, and there was barely any variety. If you're a meat lover, forget about it—there was no meat to be found anywhere. The vegetarian options weren't any better, consisting mostly of bland, overcooked vegetables and stale bread. The few items that were available were often cold and tasteless. The service was equally horrendous. The staff seemed completely indifferent to the guests and any requests for assistance were either ignored or met with rude responses. It felt like they were doing us a favor by even acknowledging our presence. The lack of hospitality was astonishing and completely ruined the vacation vibe. Cleanliness was another major issue. Our room was filthy when we checked in, and it never got any better. Housekeeping was practically non-existent. The bathroom and shower were clogged, making it almost impossible to take a decent shower. The entire room had a musty smell, and it was clear that proper cleaning and maintenance were not a priority for this hotel. To top it all off, the general service throughout the hotel was poor. Whether it was the front desk, restaurant, or any other facility, the level of service was consistently low. It felt like the entire staff had no interest in providing a positive experience for their guests. Overall, my stay at Sunscape was a disaster. The awful food, terrible service, lack of cleanliness, and poor facilities made this one of the worst vacations I've ever had. I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel if you value your time, money, and peace of mind.

) recomiendo 100X100

I had the most wonderful time during my stay at this hotel from September 29 to October 10, 2024! From the moment I arrived, the entire staff went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcome and comfortable. Everyone, from the front desk to the housekeeping and restaurant staff, all taff in the beach and pool, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional ❤️The service was exceptional! The hotel itself is beautiful, but it’s the amazing team here that truly makes the experience unforgettable. I look forward to coming back here with my boyfriend or family

We have had the best vacation. All the staff are awesome, energetic and super friendly, the food is fantastic and we love the vibe, the entertainment, and the care. From the reception, cleaners and ground staff I do not have one complaint. Well done sunscape. I would highly recommend Sunscape..
