Antiguo Ingenio de Boca de Nigua — Attraction in San Cristóbal

One of my favorite escape places near the city. Just 30min away from Santo Domingo. Do note that most pictures shown here are not from this site. Those that show a full restored structure are of Ingenio Boca de Nigua, which is another interesting site to vist, just 5 minutes away. Ingenio Diego Caballero has old decaying ruins, which makes the place even more mythical, and there are huge trees with vines at the back and low part of the terrain. Kids can have a blast swinging...

Mystical place, can find advanced old hydro technology for refining sugar. Place dates back to the early 16th century. Worth a visit but the outskirts of the ruins are dangerous requiring you travel...

De acuerdo completamente contigo, acerca del abandono total que se experimenta en estos dos ingenios particularmente , por que el de Engombe, al menos hay vigilancia, soy de los pocas Guias de Turistas, que promueve este ingenio y en mi paguina tengo una excursion a ellos, www,mylocalguides.com.do Pienso que deberia existir, primero señalizacion, un museo, baños, guias locales y servicios...
