It’s about 0.6 mile round trip to the lagoon. The trail has a decent incline, not difficult, but could be an issue for those with mobility issues. Climate is very different as you hike up, much cooler, foggy, misty and perhaps even some light rain. The view down in the lowlands is beautiful as you go up. Take a light rain/wind jacket. It was foggy & light rain when we got to the top and we couldn’t see anything, but it changes FAST. Be patient and wait around for 5 or 10 minutes and it will clear up. Take as many pictures as you can fast because it was only clear for like 5 min. We saw many frigates feasting off the lake. You can also hike around the lake. Was told it takes about 40 min to hike around the lake. Not recommend sandals. Wear hiking shoes as the ground is MUDDY & slippery from the wet climate.

You can walk up about 10 minutes from the El Junco parking lot. I went there by public bus which runs on sundays. It took about 20 minutes from the Mercado to El Junco parking place. The weather was totally different when I got there. It was foggy that I could not see the lake clearly. But It was good to...
