It’s about 0.6 mile round trip to the lagoon. The trail has a decent incline, not difficult, but could be an issue for those with mobility issues. Climate is very different as you hike up, much cooler, foggy, misty and perhaps even some light rain. The view down in the lowlands is beautiful as you go up. Take a light rain/wind jacket. It was foggy & light rain when we got to the top and we couldn’t see anything, but it changes FAST. Be patient and wait around for 5 or 10 minutes and it will clear up. Take as many pictures as you can fast because it was only clear for like 5 min. We saw many frigates feasting off the lake. You can also hike around the lake. Una de las características de las islas del archipilélago Galáoagos es la variedad de climas que cada isla incluye. Al subir a las montañas (que son, en su mayoría, volcanes extintos o en actividad) el aire se pone húmedo y por lo general llovizna. El junco es una laguna de agua dulce en la caldera de un volcán extinto. Se dice que es una provisión de agua de tamaño indeterminado y que unos buzos, hace tiempo, que interntaron explorar los afluentes de la caldera, desaparecieron. Todo eso puede ser cierto o no, pero el lugar es bellísimo y de muy fácil acceso (a diferencia de otros volcanes, que exigen caminatas forzadas y agotadoras).
