Perfect beach for snorkelers and sea lion spotting. Throughout the day, groups of sea lions are typically lazing about in the sun and play in the waters when it gets a bit hot for them. Some of the males can be intimidating yelling at you when you enter the water, but from my experience, just stand your ground and they'll leave you alone. It is funny to see other people back away and the sea lions chasing them; its a "see who's alpha" game they like to play.
The area by the beach is a bit murky with the sand being kicked up but if you snorkel past the rocks to the white sand areas, you'll be able to see some fishes and rays. You can even have a sea lion play with you while in the water.

This is a beach crowded with sea lions. After mid day, also with people. The water itself here isn’t very clear so I wouldn’t say it’s a good spot to swim with the sea lions but definitely a good place for interacting outside of the water. Don’t leave your things and towel unattended for too long as the sea lions like to lay on them and then become a bit territorial. We had to struggle a bit to get our things back :)

When the beach is not too crowded it is really beautiful. You have many sealions around and the babies are so cute to watch and listen to. There are some stores, toilets and freshwater showers. Please make sure not to get too close to the animals and always keep your 2 m distance. If you sit relaxed they maybe will come closer ok their own as you can see :)

So I was on the island for about 10 days and went to this beach literally every day... such a beautiful little beach. Gets busy around 4 pm everyday just about. I love that there's a little bar/food bar right there as well. Being so close to the marine life was very fun and such a nice new experience. The sunset there is to die for.

This is the best beach in town for swimming. It also might be the only beach in town for swimming. You'll spot the occasional sea lion in the water but don't be nervous because they like people. Many amenities are on the beach like juice vendors and snacks. It's very safe and kid friendly. You'll have a good time.

Came here in October 2017 with Guiding Galapagos. There are signs clearly marked from the Interpretation Center to go to Tijertas and climb up the somewhat steep steps. I would suggest wearing keens/chacos/etc if youre going to climb this and snorkel. I did this in flip flops and it was not the easiest especially since some of the path is just dirt and rock. So you get to the top and you can see Kicker Rock in the distance and there are frigate birds flying pretty close by to you at the lookout points. It is really cool. Then go back down and you just leave your belongings outside the water. There were a good amount of people snorkeling here and our guide told us that you can only snorkel here at high tide. We saw convict surgeonfish, stingray, a handful of green sea turtles, parrotfish, giant damselfish. Unfortunately the 4 of us got stung by jellyfish. I got stung in the beginning of the snorkeling and about half hour later towards the end of our snorkeling my friends got stung. I was fine and able to continue to swim around. They thought it was worse. Maybe it didnt feel as bad to me since I was in the cold water for the first half hour? lol The water is super clear so seeing the fish and turtles is easy!

The walk here is fairly short, mostly smooth but a little hilly. Many stairs if your want to go to the top lookout Snorkeling here was so beautiful, but a bit challenging. If the wind kicks up, the surge of waves tossed me around a little and made getting in and out difficult.
The pay off is a gorgeous sea scape and friendly area lions playing with you!

Well worth the easy hike and several steps up to get here. Wonderful panoramic view that includes Cerro Brujo & Kicker Rock. Lots of bird action, including frigatebirds flying below. On a misty morning, it was quite peaceful and beautiful. The only bad thing was that I forgot my binoculars!

Great place to watch the Tijeratas bay and the sea. It's an easy way up, with stairs. You should be fit, though. You can continue there to fantastic beach Baquerizo, but it takes another hour and please have good shoes nooo flip flops!! The trail is tricky and very rocky!

Stopped here on our way over to the beach at Puerto Chino.
So glad we did.
Free entry.
Made our way up to the breeding pens and only spotted a couple of adults from a distance. But on way back, ran into around 60 of these awesome creatures.
Our taxi driver recommended around 30-40 mins to do the circuit, but if any of the tortoises are on the track then you just have to wait for them to move on (not very quickly).
Tremendous experience. So glad we went here, especially after discovering the tortoise centre on Santa Cruz charges $10 entry, and by all accounts is a lesser attraction than this.
Go here, if you don't get the opportunity to see these beasts in the wild.

What an incredible experience to see these beautiful tortoises. They were mesmerizing. Some are on the sendero (path) and some are off in the brush. They're more active during the day, so definitely check it out in the morning. We visited on a Sunday around 0930. You get to enjoy them in what would be their natural habitat before they're ready to be off on their own.
There is no entrance fee. Bathrooms on site (no toilet paper in the bathrooms, so grab some on your way in behind the handwash station. Visiting this place is a must!

Educational and fascinating! See tortoises up close but must follow the rules of not touching or getting too close. Path is rough walking — lots of rough stones and lava rocks, uneven stairs with no handrails. Wear sturdy walking shoes. We saw the nursery area where the baby turtles are raised. Tortoises are in the woods or in water pools or sitting on the path. Restroom is at the parking lot area. Takes about an hour or hour and a half to walk through and enjoy the sights. Lots of birds and interesting plants, too.

Came here in October 2017 since it was too rainy to visit El Junco and we wanted to see tortoises. David Rodriguez (the place is actually called Centro de Crianza de Tortugas Terrestres David Rodrigues) was actually there and we met him! We saw baby tortoises and large ones plus some mockingbirds and yellow warblers. This place is cool because you are just walking through a park and there may be a large tortoise just a few feet next to you. We saw some large adults eat which was pretty neat.
