We booked a day tour to Punta Pitt on Kpitana (Wreck Bay Diving Center) with Galapagos a la Carte, and had an excellent day. Our guide, Christian was eager to share his excitement and knowledge about the Galapagos Islands with us. He took his time and allowed us to enjoy every moment of the tour. There were only 3 of us on the tour, so we were very lucky it wasn't cancelled. We later learned that the minimum is usually 4, but Byron from Galapagos a la Carte has an agreement that his clients' tours will not be cancelled, even if the minimum requirement is not met. Just one more reason to book with Galapagos a la Carte! The scenery along the coast of San Cristobal Island was amazing and the snorkeling was great. The views and wildlife on Punta Pitt were incredible. This was our first tour in Galapagos - what a great way to start off...

We saw red footed boobies on the hike and, in my opinion, the snorkeling was superior to Kicker Rock. I wished I hadn't used up 50 of my 60 underwater photos there. Also, our boat crew was very experienced and did some maneuvers for photo ops that the Kicker Rock boat crew didn't dare. As I learned, most of the agencies have their own boat that goes to Kicker, but they all pool/share the boats/guides to Punta Pitt. John also was able to speak English, which helped! I left my wallet at the hotel...please tell him, I wish I was able to give him a...
Read moreWe took a short panga ride from our HX ship for a morning visit to the beach of Punta Pitt. We watched sea lion moms and pups sunning themselves on the sand. A sea lion dad chased 2 pups out of the water to protect them. Part of our tour did the rocky hike up to see the red-footed boobies. The sea lions were unafraid and watched our group from where they lay. After our beach walk, we rode a panga along the island's shore. We spotted fur seals and Nazca boobys on the rocks, and Frigate birds...
