Comparing to other more famous museums in Egypt, this one offers a lot more information on the subject of Nile water engineering and the dam. Staff was helpful and did not ask for any tips after a little bit of interaction (super rare in Egypt, where kindness has a price tag on an asking hand). The only thing I didn't like was the fish tank upstairs: There was a major leak and water was everywhere. I think we were also expecting this museum would include more historical information about the Nile River.
It should be called the Aswan Dam museum. The museum has much more information regarding modern day plans to dam the Nile for electrical generation, irrigation and other uses.
There was a small area regarding the Abu Simbel temple and the project to relocate the temples to higher ground to avoid flooding. But most of the museum is about the Aswan dams. It just wasn't as interesting as we hoped...
