We had two rooms for three nights for 5 people. When we checked in, the shower was broken in one of the rooms, and it was only repaired (by a very good caretaker) at 2:30am. After the shower was repaired, it still leaked some, but at least it worked. Overall, the rooms were not very clean - we found crumbs from previous guests in the wardrobes, and we had to wipe all non-carpeted floor surfaces with wet wipes even considering walking around without wearing shoes. The beds were very good though, and the sheets were clean. On day two of our stay, the bottom of the bathtub in one of the rooms cracked, and this was not addressed over the three days we stayed at the hotel. When we reported the issues to management, the hotel eventually offered us replacement rooms that were much smaller, and a downgrade from our current rooms. We therefore opted to stay in our two rooms, one with a broken bath tub and the other with a leaky shower. Also, when I asked about taxi to the pyramids, their in-house taxi counter offered it for USD30 per person (5×30=USD150 for all five of us). We instead opted for an Uber and paid 132 Egyptian pounds (=USD2.60), so they tried to over-charge us 57-fold compared to the Uber rate. Not a great way to build trust between a hotel and its guests.

The best thing about this hotel is their staff Ahmed, who is the star of Barcelo Cairo hotel. Second best thing was the room size, which is just outstanding. The location is so pathetic. If you want to stay in cairo make sure u avoid this hotel as the near by area is not good and there is a metro construction going on in front of the hotel. The hotel is beautiful though but the restaurants inside it are of no use. The staff looks so laid back. Reception people hardly speak or understand English, this way it is very inconvenient to conversate with them. Being in a hospitality sector, they should learn English language i believe. Ahmed Torany is the only staff here who is so customer service oriented and he helped us a lot throughout our stay in Cairo.

We stayed here for 3 nights, 2 nights in a double bed and 1 night in a much better upgraded room. The first 2 nights the AC did not work and despite complaining nobody attended to the problem. Also there was issue with the hot and cold water. While taking a hot shower it used to suddenly turn hot and suddenly turn cold. Due to the above problem they upgraded us to superior room and the room was just superb and comfortable with all necessities taken care of and the room was just perfect for us. The breakfast spread is good and the reception staff and others were courteous and helpful. Centrally located right next to Cairo mall. Overall a good experience and I don’t mind revisiting again and staying here.

This hotel is a welcome oasis in the dry heat of summer and a calm from the noisy chaotic traffic just outside.||You will find everything you need here at the Barcelo Hotel.|We stayed on the 11th floor, despite the noise of the traffic and the building work on the new metro stop outside, I avoided much of the noise staying on a high floor and using earplugs.||The hotel has a pool, sunbeds and private beds with curtains and as many towels as you need with no deposit.||The food was amazing, particularly the desserts, there was so much care taken with everything.|Fresh breads, pastries, two soups at dinner and lots of salads which were changed up at every meal sitting.|Light flaky baklava, not sickly, fresh fruit salad and fruits, salad like beetroot and orange, original food. At every dinner there was chicken, fish, another meat, a local dish, rice, potatoes, lots of vegetables, and a pasta station with a choice of two pastas, two sauces and lots of toppings. At breakfast you had waffles, pancakes, two types of sausages, an egg station with every type of egg meal including Spanish omelette and scrambled eggs again with lots of toppings. Really nice room at all for complaints here.||There is a jewellery shop and a souvenir shop on site. A beauty parlour and a tourist office for booking trips.||I had reflexology and a head massage. I do realise that things are different outside the UK .You are expected to wear a disposable pair of shorts from a packet before each treatment and wear nothing on top. I explained there would be no need for this and kept my swimming suit on. The treatment was quite strange and I had to stop the lady. She was rubbing my legs and feet very vigorously, instead of touching just my feet gently as you would do in reflexology, obviously this is not what the treatment should have been and if reflexology is not offered this should be taken off the menu if the masseuse does not know what this is. Also my head massage was again not gentle, it was 15 minutes of again very vigorous rubbing, when I went back to my room my head was very sore and it triggered skin flaking for days afterwards, again if this treatment is not known it should not be offered, customers are not stupid, rubbing does not cover these treatments, it is wrong to do this to them.||One other thing that really should be rectified is that staff really should know basic English. There was one receptionist who knew some but still couldn't follow a conversation, two waiters who knew some English, including a young boy Youssef, who really was exceptional, a shining star in the staff, he spoke excellent English and was always friendly and super helpful.|The lady in the souvenir shop and in the jewellery shop spoke no English, nor did some of the receptionists, who really should have.||Our room attendant was just perfect, fresh towels everyday, beds made up every day, cups cleaned, bath scrubbed, not a problem for him at all, he did a fantastic job.||I booked two trips with Viator, a private road trip with a guide and driver to the red, bent pyramids and step pyramids, Memphis museum and a restaurant. And also a boat trip, static mostly, with a buffet dinner, a belly dancer who came on twice and a man who spun around for at least fifteen minutes with a glittery skirt and was awesome. We bought two souvenir pictures with these two entertainers.||I would highly recommend that you book Uber comfort drivers and get a lift round the corner of the hotel but further down the road, because local residents will pester you to take you in their cars/taxis, but please only book Uber comfort cars wherever you go, you will pay the price stated and won't be touted to pay more at the end of your journeym||Whatever you do do NOT let baggage handlers pick up your cases at the airport as you will be asked for tips aggressively constantly, it totally ruined the end of our trip. I pointed out one of the thieves at the gate but staff said they trusted him!||Back to the review in question. The Barcelo Cairo is a great hotel, you will need to walk to find shops, when the metro stop is built, you'll be able to travel straight to the pyramids, which is at the end of the road, and not in the middle of a desert!|But It is very very cheap to travel around, less than £2/$3€2.50 for a trip.|The hotel is in Giza, Cairo is over the Nile about 30 minutes away. That is where the souk market is and also the original Egyptian museum.||One more thing that the hotel really should have, as they are advertised on the menu, but not available, are alcoholic cocktails.|Really though few British people come to this hotel, more so other nationalities, so it is not really geared towards the Brits.|It is calm, professional and they make you feel...

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Barcelo Pyramids Hotel

I am writing to express my profound disappointment and dissatisfaction with my recent stay at the Barcelo Pyramids Hotel. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by the unprofessional behavior and offensive conduct displayed by one of your receptionists, who exhibited clear signs of rudeness, racism, and gossiping about guests.

From the moment I arrived at the hotel, I had high expectations due to its reputation and positive reviews. However, my interactions with the receptionist quickly shattered any positive image I had of the establishment. The receptionist, whose name I regretfully did not note down, consistently demonstrated a complete lack of respect and courtesy towards me and other guests.

Firstly, the receptionist's behavior was blatantly rude. Instead of providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere, she adopted a dismissive and condescending attitude. Her tone of voice was consistently abrasive, and she appeared to be irritated by even the simplest inquiries or requests. This type of behavior is completely unacceptable in any customer service environment, let alone a reputable hotel such as Barcelo Pyramids.

Furthermore, I was appalled to witness firsthand the receptionist's racist remarks. It was distressing to hear her make derogatory comments about guests based on their race or ethnicity. Such behavior is not only deeply offensive but also a clear violation of basic human rights and professional conduct. As a customer, I expect to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of my background or appearance.

Additionally, I was shocked to discover that the receptionist engaged in gossiping about guests. This unprofessional conduct not only reflects poorly on the hotel but also compromises the privacy and confidentiality that guests rightfully expect. The fact that she felt comfortable openly discussing guests in a negative manner raises serious concerns about the overall professionalism and ethics of your staff.

This unfortunate experience has left a lasting negative impression on me, and I must express my dissatisfaction with the level of service I received during my stay at the Barcelo Pyramids Hotel. I sincerely hope that you take my concerns seriously and address them promptly to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.

I strongly believe that every guest deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of their background, and that any form of discrimination should not be tolerated within your establishment. I urge you to thoroughly investigate this matter, take appropriate disciplinary action against the receptionist involved, and implement comprehensive training programs to ensure that all staff members adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and customer service.

I trust that you will take immediate action to rectify these issues and restore the reputation of the Barcelo Pyramids Hotel as a welcoming and inclusive establishment. I hope that my feedback will contribute to the improvement of your services and the overall...

Plus - Minus Barcelo Cairo Pyramids! April 2024.

As a client of Barceló, there was no doubt about choosing a hotel for the Pyramids of Giza. At all. Relying on the Respected Hotel Brand and our travel experience, we hoped to combine comfort and an exciting trip with a child to the Pyramids. A pre-confirmed reservation for a Junior Suite Deluxe room, a confirmed transfer and a private excursion to the pyramids gave us confidence in a good outcome of the trip. But not everything turned out so great. Or Egyptian factor.

Transfer – Impeccable! When everything is good, there seems to be nothing to write about! But for the sake of fairness, it is worth noting that with the transfer, arrival and departure, everything was at the highest level! This is a separate hotel service, it is not dumping, but is absolutely worth the money. Likewise with a personal – individual excursion to the pyramids! These three hours were a great time spent in Giza.

Accommodation – Horrible! We read about the “cunning” Egyptian service, when you are first put in the worst room, then baksheesh, management efforts and it will be a little better. Realizing this! We are pre-booked and received confirmation for the Junior Suite Deluxe. But we were taken to a dirty, old room with a window into the wall, but with a discount on late check-out for the next day. Super Deal - Sarcasm. We asked to change the room, and we were placed in another, better one, but also not at all our Junior Suite Deluxe. Tired from the road, with a child, we wanted nothing more than to relax. For the sake of Truth and justice, much later we were politely offered good manager our reserved room, but we refused, the suitcases were open, we were packing our things again. Generally We were terribly disappointed with this service.

Location – Very good. During our visit, renovations were underway on the main street and we were driven through the inner neighborhoods. Cairo and Giza, as they are! The hotel is an island of safety and comfort in a modern metropolis with its own characteristics. The hotel's upper terrace offers excellent views of the surrounding areas of Giza (not much to see) and the Pyramids of Giza. Next to the hotel there is a strange shopping center and a good "Safari" restaurant. The surrounding streets are not the kind that you would want to wander romantically in the evenings.

Breakfast - liked it. The coffee machine had a Lungo program and it was Lungo! Everything in the room is quite old and shabby. The taps and shower ran out of hot water at 14:00. Should we say that we were very surprised? No. Perhaps these are the characteristics of boilers. At the same time, in the showers by the pool on the 8th floor, the hot water worked perfectly.

The swimming pool is on the 8th floor, this is the highlight of the Hotel. Take a towel, lie under the canopy, swim in the pleasant clean water and you will again want to not return to your shaky room. We decided that we would not return to this hotel again unless it will be...
