A museum offering varied and fascinating insights into Finnish aviation next to Helsinki's Vantaa Airport. I visited on my way to the airport, alighting the train at the Aviapolis stop and then walking a short distance.
The museum has a mixture of both civil and military airframes, including some unique examples. There is a focus on the history of civil aviation in Finland and Finnair itself. Practically all exhibits are in Finnish and English. I spent about 90 minutes exploring the museum. The only downside is that the giftshop is unusually expensive (even for Finland).

The ability to go on board an old Finnair plane and even take a seat on board was really appreciated after visiting other transport museums where everything was well and truly closed and not welcoming anyone to look inside. This was very good entertainment for small children which isn't that easy in an aviation museum - but they also had a children's play area between the two main exhibition halls which was a mid visit saviour. There is a big exhibition of airplanes, helicopters, aviation engines, gliders and the air traffic controller workplaces. There is also a flight simulator where you can experience an engine failure and act as a real pilot and land the aircraft (or crash).
